Our ever-morphing vacation has finally been decided on.(I think) We are going to spend 3 nights camping at FW, then on to Vero for 4 nights. We are not going to go to any parks:sad1: (except Kennedy Space Center:) ). Will it be torture for a WDW freak to be so close and not go to my beloved parks? Have any of you ever just stayed on property and not gone to the parks?

I hear you We are going to Vero for 4 days as well for Just A Beach Vacation.

I have gone to DL when in Cali for just a few days on business ,How am I suppose to be in Fl. and not hit Disney.

Good Luck I'm not sure I can hold out I drive up to Hershey for the day might have to drive up to WDW for at least some DTD action.

I don't know OP. That is very brave of you. To be in FL and no Disney. I couldnt do it! Hope you have a great vacation though!:thumbsup2

I couldn't do it. Good luck to you. Although there should be plenty at fw to entertain you.

I can't imagine why you'd want to bother with staying onsite if you're not visiting any park:confused3

To be that close and to not go would just make me sad and cranky:eek:

I agree with everyone who has posted. There's no way i'd be that close and not go to any of the parks. It'd kill me being that close. Yikes!:scared1:

I agree with everyone. Why not hop on the boat at FW to the MK?? It would be torture for me.

OMG, to be at FW and not go to the parks, Ummhhh, you might want to check and see if you forgot to take some meds or something cause that sounds absolutely insane! I did a businees trip a few years ago at WW of Sports and it was soo bad I had my DSIL & DBest Friend go to the restraunts, get the table and then I took a cab there and back. One afternoon I totally blew off jsut cause I couldn't help myself. Good Luck with what to me seems like a hopeless plan. IMHO

I understand what everyone is saying about just hop over and go .

But for us we are between APs and the cost is just worth it for such a small trip. This could also be a factor for the OP as well.

If we do get bored we will most likely go up to US/IOA or maybe SW for a day.

We will be starting our APs and 4 with-in a year trips again next June or July.

We had 25 days in 4 trip in the parks last year so it's not like were hurting to go that bad.Thas not bad for not being local or made of money.

I couldn't do, I couldn't do it, I just couldn't do it!. I will admit-I'm a disney addict, and just can't break the habit.....::MinnieMo :wave: :wave:

OMG that would be like dancing with George Clooney with your hands tied behind your back, or running a 5K and tripping at the finish line, or reading the final Harry Potter only to find the last chapter is missing...

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Well, here's the deal......There are a few reasons we are not doing the parks:

1. We have a strict budget for this vacation, and for the five of us to go to one park for one day is over $300(hopper would be over $500).

2. No one else in my family wants to do the parks but me:scared1: (I know, I don't understand it either) they all say they wanna do something diff:sad1:

3. We wanted to be able to spend a week in FLA, and we needed VERY inexpensive accomodations for three nights to be able to afford it.

4. My family loves to camp, and we know we can trust FW to be wonderful, safe and fun.

5. My DH wants to "completely relax", translation....NO DISNEY PARKS!

It will only be tough for me I think. But ya know, sometimes you just need to put your families wants and needs ahead of your own desperate wants.;)

Well I can understand not wanting to be in the parks due to crowds...I am not a huge crowd person myself, which makes me completely insane to be going at a super peak time in dec. :santa: I think I will get over it though. A relaxing vacation might be just the ticket for ya'll. I'm sure it'll be fun. Relaxing is fun and can be different if your always doing a zillion things and have little time to relax. I'm sure you'll make the best of it. :goodvibes

Here's my "glass-half-full" take on the situation (because I'm just that kinda gal): FtWilderness has the singalong campfire at night, and you can watch the electrical water parade thingy, too. Those are 2 Disney things you can do for free. And you'd be able to explore WL too-the architecture looks amazing. I have heard fabulous things about the campsites. Have a great time!

I have often booked a long weekend at WL and not gone to the parks at all. The WL/FW area has plenty of recreational opportunities, so you don't get bored. Plus, there's plenty of shopping and dining to do without hitting the parks. If you find you need something to do, a one day water park or Disney Quest ticket isn't nearly as expensive as a park ticket. I'm one of those people who tends to spend as much or more time at the resort than in the parks anyway.

I've done it.

I had a room onsite and had a Universal /Seaworld vacation. This was the day of the $49 value rooms so it was a cheap deal.

Of course I could have found something closer to SW/USO but we did stay onsite.

although we have never NOT gone to the parks.... many friends tell us we are crazy for always staying on site.. not saving money by staying elsewhere cheaper. you know what my response is? "you could stay a full week at a disney resort and have a great time without ever stepping foot in the parks! they are NOT just a place to sleep"
plenty people pay mucho bucks to stay at "all-inclusive resorts" in cancun, etc. and never leave the resort. if you're into camping, many people camp for an entire week, and still don't have the amenities of FW.
enjoy the vacation for what it is and plan for future trips. have fun!

It would drive me crazy too...but what better way of feeling the magic (if you're not going to the parks) than to be onsite. Only thing is, I'd have probably wanted to do FW last!! Have fun...
