Will I be overdressed?

We leave in two days from the oh so cold North to the Wonder for a 3 night cruise. I just picked up too fabulous dresses on sale at Macy's -- both are above the knee style -- but they are party type dresses. One is the classic little black dress, very simple but backless -- the other is a little more casual according to DH, but it does have some jet beads on the top.... So will I be way overdressed if I pack one of these for Triton's?

Not at all! Wear your new dresses with pride and have a great time! :)

You will not be overdressed at all. You will see a huge range of outfits and will not feel out of place. Go enjoy!

ps: I am in Londonderry!

I bought a floor length dark green satin dress. Now I'm having second thoughts about taking it for formal night. It's sleevless with a full skirt. Should I take it? I also have a little black halter dress that I was taking for semi-formal...not sure what to do now!

BriarfoxinWA, take your dress and enjoy the night. You will see all different styles of formal wear. Have a great cruise. Kathy

I've gone round and round with this clothing issue since we first booked our cruise. I decided that since this was such a special occasion for us and we never dress up to go out to dinner I was going to look and feel like a princess for a change. Wear whatever you feel is appropriate for that evening and just enjoy yourself!!

Maybe I'm in the minority on this, but I truly didn't notice what anybody else was wearing on formal and semi-formal nights. We dressed up, as you can see from our formal pic below. We had a great time, we looked marvelous, my DD felt like a princess (she even had little girls staring at her wide-eyed, and Donald Duck proposed to her!), and we got the best family pictures we have ever had. Definately worth taking all that luggage!

Your family looks great all dressed up!!! How fun and a marriage proposal that of course you approve of :)

I agree with Dancid. I didn't even notice what other had on. And, I really don't care. If someone wants to wear a tux, fine. If someone wants to wear khakis and a golf shirt, fine. I really don't care. It also doesn't ruin my evening by seeing people dressed casual for formal night. I don't quite understand how this can upset so many people.
Wear whatever you want. You will see every kind of dress. And, there is less focus on dress when you are on the ship, then there is on this site.

I haven't cruised yet, but I'm a believer in that you can never be "over-dressed" only impractical (i.e. wearing a gown to a BBQ) I've never once felt overdressed, but I have felt underdressed before. I figure a ship as beautiful as either the Magic or Wonder, it would be impossible to be over dressed. I for one, when we finally go, well be in a gown on formal night, and DH will have a tuxedo! :teeth:

Thanks, Buzz&Woody'sMOM! DD is 11, and this was her first opportunity to really dress up. We had so much fun shopping & planning! I had that blue ballgown hemmed really long, and she wore 3" platforms, so I'm hoping she can wear it again when we go in 2004! Diana
