Will I be asking too much of concierge service?

Hi,
We will be sailing July3 for the 4 nights on Wonder. This trip is a family reunion on my husband side as well as celebrating my in-law's 50th anniversary. We booked a category 3 stateroom and is thinking of inviting everyone (8 adults + few kids) to our room one night and have a small gathering/celebration. We will bring champagnes on-board ourselves. Is it appropriate to ask the concierge to arrange some sodas and munchies for our gathering and expect them to be free or that's just bad taste? Had anyone had similar situation and what had the concierge done for you in those situation? We had stayed in concierge room in WDW and every special occasion we mentioned to them had resulted in special goodies delivered to our room for free. Since this is our first time crusing, we don't really know what to expect? Any advise and help is appreciated.

You're paying enough for it. I would think they should go almost as far as arranging escort services. :goodvibes

I agree with StuartMI, not only should they arrange everything- they should pour, serve and if needed have the hangover for you. You are paying top dollar....take advantage of your perks. :cool1:

I'm having a senior moment, but I know that I did read recently about someone here on the DIS staying in a suite and that concierge took care of providing snacks for their DIS meet. I'm thinking that it was on the repositioning cruise. I'll have to take a look and hopefully I can find that person and you can ask how it was handled.

While I agree that you are paying enough for it... I wouldn't hold your breath for it to be done for free.

Ask them about it first thing when you go to your concierge meet and greet. Make sure you ask if it'll be complimentary or what the cost will be. You don't want to be surprised!

As for the munchies, you could just order several All Hands on Deck type plates from room service for a low cost of just tip...

Concierge is nice, but it is by no means a reason to have a Cat 1-3. They may or may not be able to help you with all your requests...

We recently sailed and celebrated both a birthday AND an anniversary while onboard and even though concierge was notified about them, they did nothing about them...... we did get a cake in the dining room from our servers/head waiter...

Our friends were concierge on a recent cruise. The sodas and water they asked concierge for had to be charged to their stateroom account. They did get wonderful treats (food items) delivered at different times throughout the day.

Like someone else said..order cookies and cheese platters from room service, there is no charge for them.

We were on the repo cruise a couple of weeks ago and in a cat3 room. I had a gathering one day for about 20 people. I spoke with concierge about some coffee, tea, cheese platters and fruit platters. The coffee and tea were free..but I paid for the other. I could be wrong but I think Beano was in a cat1 room - and you do get a little higher level of service in the Walt and Roy suites. For instance they keep you stocked with sodas and bottled water at no charge. But I would be prepared to pay for items you order in the cat3 rooms.

Thanks everyone for the information and suggestions. I will report back after we cruise as to what concerige do for us.

I think RonnieJo also posted about having a party in their Cat 1 suite and she had a link with pix of the food.

Jim, you are correct. If you stay in a Cat. 1 or 2 you will be provided with unlimited sodas and bottled water at no charge. If you stay in a Cat. 3 you will be given a one-time set up of soda and water. After that is gone, you will pay for additional soda and water. HTH
