There's a 10-20% chance I'll be making a WDW visit, probably in the first or second week of May. It seems like so many people already have ADRs. If I don't finalize my plans until later, will I be able to get reservations anywhere? Will I be stuck counter-servicing my way around the World? My kids have already been denied the Cindy meal experience due to my lack of 180-day action.

You'll have to excuse me. My last trip was years ago, in the pre-free dining plan era.:cool1:

You could make reservations now, and cancel them later if you need to. Anyone can make reservations within 180 days, whether they have a trip booked or not.

You would most likely be able to eat somewhere. The question is, will you be able to eat where you WANT to eat.

I agree with Nala that you can go ahead and make adrs and cancel if you don't go.
I wouldn't do that with CRT or any other prepaid meal, but for all others I would. (and did for this upcoming trip. Had my LeCellier adr for our anniversary before the trip was confirmed..lol)
