Will I be able to add a code rate onto an AP rate?

I currently have a reservation at the end of Sept based on the AP rate. We have decided to add one night on the end of the trip, but it falls outside the AP rate dates. Can I use a code to add a night on, or will I have to make a whole new reservation? If we have to make a new reservation, will we have to check out and back in again for one night?

You most likely will be able to get the AP rate for the last night. If you start your ressie during the AP rate you can continue it thru the checkout even if it is out of the discount period.

This is true for someone who books their stay using an AP rate that is in effect at check in but expires during the stay. But adding nights in a period that the rate has expired doesn't work the same. The only way the OP can do this now is to rebook the entire reservation. If the AP rate is now unavailable (sold out) from their check in date, then it can't be done. The only option then would be an independent one night reservation with or without a code.

jfranklyn: Try calling to see if you can get a new reservation with the AP rate to cover all your nights. If all the nights aren't available, stay with the reservation your have and add the single night on at the end. You will have to make another room deposit.

You may or may not have to change rooms. Tell them to note your continuing reservations on the original reservation. Or better yet, if you fax your requests in to the resort before leaving, tell them that in your fax. You will still have to "check out and check back in" again on the last day but at least you won't have to change rooms hopefully!.

I don't think you would have to change rooms even if you have 2 separate reservations. At one time I had a reservation for one of the older Wilderness Homes & decided we wanted to stay in a Wilderness Cabin. It was a 12 day stay. I called back daily & pieced the ressie together. We had about 5 separate reservations (of course requiring 5 deposits) & we didn't have to change cabins when we were there. On the positive side of that -we had about 5 or 6 nights paid for before we even left.

Check to make sure, but I doubt you would have to change rooms.

Assuming the AP and the code rate apply to the same class and size of room (e.g., standard), then you can call and make a separate reservation for the one additional night using the code and then ask them to link that reservation to your AP reservation; that will avoid having to change rooms

I've had CRO and/or WDWTC change my AP rate to an existing code rate that was cheaper. I've never had problem doing this.
