Somewhere i read that there are separate lines for peoole who have bags is this true and is this the case in both parks? Will this slow us down? Thanks

I have never seen a bag line for a ride, MANY rides at USF and IOA have lockers as you are not allowed to bring a bag of any kind on the rides. They do have bag checks, both at CityWalk entrance from the garage and also if you are staying onsite at the boats from the hotels (although I have only actually had the boats do bag check once out of the 5 or 6 times we have used the boats). That slows you down for a few minutes but the rest is fine.

I never noticed a bag line..alot of the rides do not allow ANY bags .So you need to stow them in lockers before u even get on line.

Sometimes there is a line to get to the lockers. Having a bag can slow you down.

I think OP may mean does having a bag slow you down when you are trying to enter the park to begin with. Unless the line is long you just make sure your bag and all pockets and zippers are all unzipped and open by the time you walk up to the bag checker and they just peek in a little bit then tell you to go ahead on in.

Having a bag slows you down by a minute or two getting onto the main big rides because you have to put your stuff in a locker before riding and get it back out after riding.

I always carry a backpack with drinks and snacks into the parks for us so I have to use the lockers a lot. It's no big deal to do.

Now if you are going during a very crowded peak time, it might be more of a real PITA getting in and out of the locker areas due to massive amounts of ppl trying to get in there and stow their stuff away also.

And if you go right at park opening the initial bag check line might be kind of long depending on when you go.

OP if you mean are there separate RIDE LINES for ppl with bags, then NO. You can't get in line with any bags of any kind. On FJ at WWOHP I have seen a TM send someone away for a fanny pack as well. They even had it up under the shirt trying to hide it and the TM must have noticed the bulge sticking out and asked them to go stow it. I have seen once where they had a fanny pack on and weren't trying to hide it and was asked to leave the line and go stow it. The TM didn't say anything to the person about them being able to come back to the front of the line once they stowed the bag. So I imagine they have to get back in the end of the line.

There are SIX rides that enforce a "no bag" rule:
Hulk
Dragons
FJ
Rockit
MIB
Mummy

That's it. There is only a "locker line" for FJ, since the lockers are inside, and the entrance is outside. Those rides will allow a person with a standard 3-prong hip pack to ride as long as the pack doesn't interfere with the restraint. People who get sent back to lockers for bringing a bag are allowed to return without having to wait through line again.

Also, anyone doing child swap, or if there are non-riders in the group, are allowed to bring bags through the line. They will be stopped frequently by TMs, so a simple "I'm just walking through with them/not riding" will suffice.

I think I am reading the post differently. If the lockers are very busy, you can definitely have to wait in line to get to one. We've waited at Mummy and at MIB in line at a kiosk to get a locker. Having to use the lockers can slow you down if the locker bays are very busy. If you are going at a slow time, having to stow your bag won't slow you down much at all.

I bring my bag with me all the time. It's really not that much of an inconvenience in my opinion. A couple minutes here and there isn't too horrible.

I was wearing a small, flat crossbody Vera Bradley mini hipster under my coat last Dec. The CM noticed the edge of it and sent me back down telling me I had to place it in a locker, then get into the line back at the locker area. saw others also being told they had to go through the line again. The lady in front of me had a small wristlet that she had stuck in her pocket. Part of it was sticking out and she was told that if it didn't fit completely inside the pocket, with none showing, that she had to place it in a locker and then get back in line down there. The CM turned us over to another CM, who took us to some stairs across from the loading area, but then told us we had to go back through the line. Neither CM told us we could return to our previous spot.

Having a bag definitely slows you down. I went to Universal last Sept with three DIS friends. Two of us wore cargo shorts and didn't have any bags, but two of them had large backpacks. Going into the parks we had to wait for them to have their bags searched and at several rides we had to wait while they put their backpacks into lockers. If they hadn't had them, we could have just walked straight through. It wasn't a big deal, but definitely slowed us down.

Do the 6 rides that dont allow bags or anything carried on them charge for use of the lockers outside them? I know they do something similar at six flags great america and they charge for the short term use ride lockers!

Nope. The lockers are free for the time you are on the ride.

If your asking about --security lines--- into the parks they move fast actually and there is one at each park for no bags. we do not feel security lines slow us down at all.:dance3:

Would they really turn you away for using a fanny pack? I'm thinking about bringing one, but if they are going to turn me away for it......

If it's small it's going to be fine. Some people bring these HUGE fanny packs that basically look like mini-coolers (some even have water bottle holders) that have to be stored in a locker.

When we've gone, the bag-check areas are at the end of the path from RPR going into Citywalk, and the end of the path from HRH and PBH before you get to the Citywalk area (though of course that path feels much more like you're at the entrance to US), and at some point between the parking garage and Citywalk.

When we've gone, there are no bag security lines getting directly into the parks.

The only place I've had a wait to put bags into lockers is at MIB. There are SO MANY kiosks in there, and everyone clumps up at the FIRST kiosks they see. So just make your way through to the far end of the locker area, and you won't have as big of a wait. It just takes a bit to get through the clumps of people who don't know there are many kiosks in there. (the kiosks are where you do your fingerprint, etc, to get access to the locker in that group of lockers)

Really? WOW. I have no need for a giant fanny pack. Mine's going to be small, nothing like that.

I had no problems at all while wearing a fanny pack when we were there in 2010. It is fairly small-- just large enough for my point&shoot camera, sunglasses, lip balm, room key, cash, etc. I wore it in plain sight (being the unapologetic dork that I am ;)) and none of the CMs had a problem with it, not even on FJ. They knew that I had it on too, as I had to spin it around slightly to get it out of the way as they helped me click the overhead restraint in place.

So, as long as you don't have an unusually large fanny pack, I wouldn't sweat it. It was really easy to carry around all day, and I never had to wait on a locker to store my camera, etc. I even got pictures of the ride bench right before it was our time to get on. :thumbsup2

Thanks & FYI I did mean to get on the rides. I still can't decide if I should bring a bag or not the amount of money we would save on bringing own drinks and food MAY be worth waiting a bit more. At least now i can make an educated decision. Thanks

I never take a bag to Universal parks. I do not want to wait in line for lockers, then worry about which locker I had, and some times that fingerprint scanner doesn't work really well. Also the locker at each ride is only free for 1 hour, so if the ride line is long you may go over. So I had to make sure I had a creditcard still in my pocket so I could pay for it. That was years ago because I never get one now, so maybe it has changed. I always wear cargo capris so I have pockets that zip or button so I don't lose my money, keys, phone, etc.
