Will going by myself be boring and lonely?

I'm planning on a solo trip sometime in the near future. I'm looking forward to seeing what I want to see and do what I want to do. Not that I mind going with others but some alone time is always nice.

WOOHOO! Made my reservations for October. I'm going for it and I can't wait!!! :cool1: Do not plan on being bored or lonely whatsoever. Just praying that between now and then no one asks to go with me. Sure don't want to hurt their feelings by telling them I'd rather go solo... :cheer2:

Good deal, enjoy you will have fun. There are so many people to talk to and don't forget the cast members, they are super friendly!

I found these posts very helpful..I would love to do a solo trip one day and pretty sure I would have no problems doing so. I have a question for those who have done it. I see how it would be great having the freedom to do what I want and when I want but is going on the attractions a little lonely? When I am with my family it's fun to point things out during the ride or compete with my DH on TSM or Buzz...are the rides lacking a little fun when you are alone?

Aloha,

I am moving off the Island of Oahu, Hawaii and moving to my next duty station so I figure, why not do a Disney World vacation during my 30 days leave period. I went to Disney back in August of 2011 with my girl friend and had a good time, but there were definatly a lot of things that I wanted to do that she didn't.

So, I figure this will be a great opprotunity to check some things off in the box while taking my sweet time and no rushing at a fast pace to get things done. I figure going solo means that I don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn to make sure I am there when the park opens maybe I might sleep in enjoy in room dining at my resort for breakfast since I am on the Delux Dining plan.

I definatly feel that I won't be lonely. Since enlisting into the military I have done things on my own and independently. I went to Disney World for my first time back in 93 with my family, again in 2002 with my High School Marching Band, and in 2011 with my girl friend. It will be nice to be on on my own schedule. I am suprised that a lot of people go to Disney World solo.

I think I may be going solo in September! (If my grandparents decide not to tag along) im so excited! I've read so many great things about solo traveling ...I think im ready for it.

Im 20, and feel like I need to go out and explore the World on my own. I asked so many people to come with me, but they couldn't! (Would love to go with my younger sister, but she's still in school!)

I've only been to disney with big groups of people (Last January it was 11 of us! Eek!) And I distinctly remember being so fed up with having to wait for everyone! (We stayed off site, so I couldn't just hop on a bus and go somewhere!) Ever since then, Ive wanted to go solo!

Also, last visit, I found myself wanting to talk to a lot of CMs...only for my convo to be cut short because my party was moving on.

Now that I have an AP and rooms are cheap at value, I think im just gunna go for it and go solo!

I love going solo. It's totally your vacation and no worries about having to please someone else.

Agreed. I have done five trips solo; the last one was an 8 day, no parks, all resorts trip right before Xmas. I brought four of my favorite books with me, no park tickets, no ADR's, shorts and t-shirts. I had the best time.

When I got home, my stepmother commented what a waste to spend all that money for nothing.

Sorry, but she just doesn't get it. There is something wonderful about spending time by yourself in your favorite place on earth.

I was telling some friends of mine that I want to go to Disney but they don't so I said I'll just go myself and they said that's stupid because it'll be boring and lonely. Is going solo not as glamorous as it sounds? I don't want to spend all my money and be unhappy :(

It is totally as glamourous as it sounds and your friends are stupid heads. :goodvibes Seriously though people tried to tell me the same thing when I said I was going solo. The reaction from some was like I said I wanted to go get diptheria. It was ridiculous on thier part and hurtful but unfortuantely people are like that (including my own mother but we won't go there). Just ignore them and go on your trip. I just returned on Wed from a solo trip and it was a blast. I get to go to WDW often and DH is always with me and sometimes our kids but this was completely different. I missed DH some but had I been home I would have been much worse off (he is out of town all week). I never felt lonely or bored at all. I hopped around to the parks and did what I wanted to do. Ride EE 5 times in a row, check. Spend 2 hours riding BTMRR (6 times) and Splash Mtn (3 times) over and over, check. Decide on a whim I want Tangerine Cafe for lunch hope on the monorail and over to Epcot in minutes. One day I was getting ready to chill at the pool, I walk by the bus stop on the way and see a Typhoon Lagoon bus pull up, so I hopped on and went to the lazy river instead. I could have never done that with others in tow.
