Husband says it will be and I am not sure. Thinking about going to California this December; flights are good now and it we would also be able to experience the 60th celebration. We would be there Dec 2-10, with 4 days at the parks. TIA.

First they would need to add park-wide wi-fi.

And if that were the case they would be feverishly adding FP return lines to lots more attractions.

I would doubt it. We were just there and legacy FP was still going strong!!

Nope, there is no infrastructure in place. You're safe! We're looking at that same week for our first Christmas visit and these boards are a wealth of planning knowledge! Your husband won't be able to come up with an excuse that Disboards can't work around!

Highly, highly doubtful. As others said, there's still no wifi. And as we've discussed on these boards before, FP+ doesn't really work at Disneyland as it's more of a locals draw and people can't plan 6 months in advance when they decide to go that morning on a whim.

I would say that they may be testing it, but it won't be the full version.

A fairly recent article from Bob Iger that i remember reading here said there were no plans to introduce FP+ to DLR. Never say never i suppose but it doesn't sound like it would be anytime soon. Even if it does eventually come it is not the end of the world...we have used it in WDW and liked it alot. It is just a different way of touring the parks.

There were rumors a few months back that said they would be testing FP+ (not necessarily the same version that is at WDW) in August for onsite guests, but after that first flurry of rumors, nothing more has been said or hinted at. I have to agree that at this point, without a lot infrastructure changes it seems unlikely that FP+ will be coming to DLR this year. Even if they opt to only add it to the existing FP attraction, it would still mean infrastructure changes. So at this point, I'm inclined to say that DLR is unlikely to get FP+ this year, but that doesn't mean something called FP+ won't someday be used at DLR.

I'll start by saying that I am not saying that FP+ is coming to DLR this year...however it would be possible to implement parts of FP+ without wifi. WDW has kiosk locations where guests can select their FPs, so DLR could do something like this without needing to add wifi or a MDE-type app. I think it's important to note that no one has said that DLR will get an exact copy of WDW's FP+ system, so it maybe that DLR only gets parts of the system.

We have experienced FP+ twice and did not mind touring with it. I also like DLR the way it is :-)

Iger was talking about My Magic+ and not FP+. Fp+ and My Magic are two different things.

We were at the parks last week and they are now testing putting fast passes on annual passes (and possibly regular ticket cards and/or on site resort room keys). I went to Guest Services to see if we could get a FP for the next day for Indy since 2 days in a row it was down during our return window and we were leaving the park for that day. The CM put 1 FP for each of us (so 3 total) "on my annual pass". So the next day I gave my annual pass to the first CM at the Indy FP return entrance who scanned my AP to see the passes, then the CM who takes the paper tickets where they combine the FP and standby lines also had a scanner to redeem them. From the way the CM's were talking about it it sounded like it was new to them and one of the scanners was not working - so it's probably early in the test. But I did notice a few other times at FP rides I saw CM's with the scanners too. I would assume that is the first phase of getting ready to try out a FP+ system w app, kiosks and all.

It is not magic bands -just FP+.

We were at WDW in Fall 2013 during the FP+/Magic Band test- we loved it although we had the best of both worlds - we had FP+ and also still got to pull paper fast passes too but if I had to choose one vs the other I would have picked FP+ as I liked planning ahead and would get notified on my phone if the ride was down during my FP return window so I could exchange for another FP or get a "good for the rest of the day" FP for that attraction.

Magic Bands were cool too but I agree they make more sense at WDW where there are so many on site guests - we loved using them as room keys and to pay for stuff and it was nice when going to the pool as we didn't need to bring anything with us since we were wearing our room key and wallet on our wrists. The fact that the MB's also held FP+'s was a bonus but it would have been just as easy swiping a ticket card or annual pass (I wear a lanyard for easy access to our AP's) as scanning the magic band.

It wouldn't be impossible to implement parts of it quickly. After all, they link return times for DAS/no-stairs peeps already.

An app to scan your ticket or AP, and add in your FP choices/times, and scanners for the CMs (that a lot already carry for doing DAS return times) to check the passes linked to the card.

Wham, bam, we're just an app away from it, theoretically!

I saw people doing this on our trip in June, but hadn't put two and two together. Is it by invitation only or can anyone with an AP do it? Are you limited to those 3 or can you still get legacy FPs as well?

I was not invited- I just wanted to get a fastpass for the next day and the CM put it on my annual pass. I have no idea what sort of test they are doing outside of my situation.

I've heard, and what it sounds like happened for Jina, is that re-admit passes are now done electronically. Typically they are given out for ride break downs or guest relation issues and they are now basically like the DAS system.
