Will Fastpass/MaxPass return on June 15?

Aren't they using the FP lines to help with socially distancing the queues? I don't think they'll be bringing any FP form back until the extended queues are no longer needed, at least if they follow WDW's footsteps.

I've noticed at many southern California theme parks the wait times aren't accurate. And I think it has to do with the number of people in a party. The line will go faster if you can fill a vehicle, but if you've only got 1 or 2 people in a party, it's going to be much slower since you can't seat parties together. The variability makes predicting waits hard.

No, they are not using fastpass lines to help with distancing. They are being used for DAS and rider switch. We used several on Sunday.

I think Fastpass/Maxpass is a long way off because it make the logistics of distancing in the lines a lot more complicated. Even stuff like where to funnel those lines where they’re be side-by-side with the regular lines would be a bit of an issue for many rides. (More plexiglass?). You’ve also got to staff return lines, etc... I just think it’s a hassle that they don’t “need” to deal with, so they won’t.

As for wait times accuracy, previously they had a very good idea of “Peter Pan’s line is to X spot, that’s about X many people and the line will take X amount of time.” Now there are way more variables, so I think that accuracy is probably much tougher.

One nice thing is that I think lines are so much more palatable when you’re constantly moving, which was definitely true with the distancing and lack of FP “stops.”

Distancing outdoors is going to go away next month, along with a bunch of other precautions. Already, then science supports 3ft of distancing, which is basically back to normal.

FP return lines are all already staffed because of DAS. Most rides had 2 CMs at the FP return lines.

I haven't used those in such a long time ever since the advent of Maxpass. I found wait times in the app to be very accurate pre pandemic. I never once saw anyone handing out the "red cards" at Disneyland this past weekend, so it seems to me that they are literally just guesstimating wait times in the app at this point. I don't know that there are enough users of those unoffical apps in the parks to be reliable right now.
I wonder if there are no red cards since it involves handing an item back and forth, and something to be sterilized, which they seem to be trying to limit.

As for guesstimating, I overheard CMs at Sorin’ doing just that. One said to the other, “When the line is here I’ve been saying 30, and 40 when it gets back to the fence.” Got the impression they are indeed guesstimating at this time, so hopefully as days go by the times will get more accurate.

And is anyone aware of any such rumors at WDW?

I don't think anyone is going to like the rumors about FastPass going on at WDW right now haha. Head over to the Rumors/News board and there's an ongoing thread about it. Most common rumor is they're going to bring it back as a paid only option but no one really knows.

I think now that physical distancing can go out the window, line times will improve greatly. Once WDW started seating everyone next to each other on rides wait times got much, much better.

I think about this one often, but I see no valid business reason to offer expedited boarding for free. I think we’re going to see MaxPass return along with tiers like MaxPass Plus, MaxPass Premium, and MaxPass Ultra Mega El Gigante Premium.

I expect to see a FP Yesterland entry soon.
