My TV woke me up the other day, and I can't remember what show or even what channel, but I heard one person who proclaimed themselves a far left Democrat, that after a while they were looking for things to find wrong with the movie because they didn't like the way Moore presented it. They jokingly said they might vote for Bush because of it.

Now, we have ex Vice President Gore (love saying that, like the joke the other day, I think from Truth) saying there is no connection between Saddam and Al Queda even though he had said previously that there was, all kinds of intelligence agencies are going "what planet is he on now", etc. So, of course his people are going on lots of talk shows trying to spin the definition of "connection" etc. Sounds very familiar.

And, of course, we have a very subliminal message as well. F911 is the first acknowledgment of the far left that September 11th happened, although at the same time they are blaming President Bush for spending so much, for the loss of jobs in 2001, etc. It is really annoying to be implied stupid by ex President Clinton, et al.

So, my question is this. Do you think this will ultimately hurt the Democrats or help? I still stand by my prediction last year of a 65-35 win for President Bush in November.

Check the current opinion polls. it looks as if GW is hurting. Why hold out for so long for the wrong side? Why don't you give in and join us?;)

Have you checked FoxNews today? Not that ANY poll taken 5 months before the election is all that meaningful... ;)

Much like other polls done by someone who has a bias, your choices are lousy.

How about including the choice " I don't think it will have an impact on either candidate"?

From today's poll:

51% of the public disapprove of the job Bush is doing.

Approval of his handling of the "War on Terror" has declined from 67% to 52% in just 5 months.

A bit more:
On both handling the situation with Iraq and managing the economy, more Americans disapprove than approve of Bush’s performance. Today, 46 percent approve and 49 percent disapprove of the job Bush is doing managing the economy.

During the course of the war, the president’s ratings on his handling of the situation with Iraq have fluctuated significantly. Currently 45 percent approve and 49 percent disapprove of Bush’s job performance on Iraq. At the beginning of the year, soon after the capture of Saddam Hussein, 57 percent of Americans approved and 35 percent disapproved.

All of this despite roughly $85 MILLION already spent in trying to attack John Kerry....Despite the totals in the "who would you vote for" column of that poll, I think there's quite a bit there to be just a tad worried about if you're in Bush's corner :teeth:

Okay one Star Wars quote:

Darth Vader-

" Don't get too proud of this technological terror that you have constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force" (democrats):p

lol, I'm sorry to be so wacky! Sorry I hijacked your thread! ;)

I didn't include it only because I didn't think of it. If a moderator wants to add it in now, I don't have a problem with it. Also, if you think the choices are so lousy you can always start your own poll.

hey, minnie, like the quotes!

By the way, wvrevy, you might want to look at how the poll is going. I was pretty much expecting it to go along party lines, wanted to see primarily the effect on Moderate Democrats. The moderates are the key. We may not have the 65-35, but it won't take many moderate Democrats to get upset to give the win to President Bush.

Another interesting thing..

You didn't include the a choice that the film will hurt Republicans. Of course that might give you results you don't like.

Your poll is set up to get the results you want. The results are meaningless.

Not necessarily. If one chooses a "helps Democrats" option, that is pretty much the same as saying it hurts Republicans.

Do you mean you think that it's possible for it to help the Democrats and the Republicans at the same time? or are you saying it might hurt both at the same time? Again, if I had thought of it, I might have added the one where it hurts both, but then there are only so many choices (12). If you don't like my poll, please post your own.

Certainly anything that helps Democrats win hurts Republicans, but Republicans who vote aren't required to make that leap. If what you really want is a true indication of what people think, then don't slant the questions in your favor. Giving choices on one side and not the same choices on the other gives the poll an obvious bias.

All I'm saying is don't be all that thrilled with your results, whatever they end up being. I really don't care one way or the other, but there's no sense in pretending it was a fair or balanced set of questions or that the results have any significance at all.

Okay one more quote-

Darth Vader- "There is no escape. Don't make me destroy you Luke, you do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your power. Join me, and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy."

Luke- "I'll never join you":bounce:

I think Michael Moore helps the Democrats about as much as Rush helps the Republicans. They're both on the far side of their prospective parties and they're both preaching to the choir when they open their mouths. Moderates on either side of the coin don't put much credence in either of these two figures.

I saw the movie this afternoon. What surprised me the most was the diversity of the audience members. Note that this is a weekday afternoon. The theater, which was not even scheduled to be showing this film until a last minute change this week, was packed. From the very young, to the very senior citizens. From the pony tailed gentlemen, to the young people in business attire. Like what it says or not, this was a very moving experience. Those who have not seen it seem to be under the impression it is going to stir up anger and hatred......it did not...people filed out quietly and reflectively. I truly could not say how it might affect anyone's vote. It was not what I expected at all.

Thanks for the review Faith! Sometimes these movies aren't really what we expect at all.:D
