will Excursion/Expedition be big enough for 8 & luggage?

For our trip next summer there will be 8 of us (3 adults & 5 kids) and I am planning on renting a Ford excursion (or Ford Expidtion) from Hertz and I was wondering if this will be big enough for everyone and all the luggage. I know there are 8 seat belts so, that is room for everyone, but what about the luggage?

Should let you know that I am either limited to Hertz or Avis for renting and Avis doesn't have large SUV's in Orlando (at least according to their website). I am limiting myself to Hertz because I am going to us my #1 Gold Club membership and my USAA membership to get discounts and to limit my liability, in case we are in an accident.

I highly doubt the expedition would be enough for your group. I just doubt that the cargo space is enough for that amount of luggage.

You might want to look at the various car rental websites, some of which give "suggestions" as to how many people and how much luggage they can carry. Just a thought, as I've never been in an excursion.

not without having some kids sitting on some luggage.

an expedition will sit 7 adults 2 front, 3 mid, 3 rear.

if you use the 3 rear configuration, you take up 90% of the cargo space.

same with the excusrsion, but it does give a little more cardgo space.

We own an Expedition and it will not work for you. It does not have anymore room in the way back than a mini van. The Excursion will work out great. It has all the seat space you need and alot of room in back for luggage. If you have to get the Expedition you can make it work. If you get a softsided roof bag. They run about $25 at walmrt.

Thanks for all the replies. I am glad I asked. Sounds like I need to go with the Excursion, which is no problem. It really isn't that much more money to rent then the Expedition. And it will be worth it to be able to have all of us together. I compared renting 2 Full Size cars (Ford Taurus) and it is actually less money to rent the 2 full size cars, then to rent 1 Premium size SUV (the Excursion or Expedition) but I wanted us to all be together, and it worth the extra money for that (as long as I knew we would all fit)
