Will doing online checkin help us get our room any faster?

Today is our 10 day mark. I've been really debating about whether or not we should do the online checkin. I know the room will probably not be available until 4 or 5, but I was wondering if by checking in online, we might have a better chance of having the room ready shortly after we arrive. We have a 2 year old that really needs his nap around 1:30-2pm. If its not ready, we will probably just pick a park to walk around in and hopefully DS will fall alseep in his stroller. We just try to stick to his routine as much as possible (his OT said it would help him not back track while we are in Disney to stick w/his schedule).

Any experience or ideas on what we should do? TIA!

I'll be curious of your responses too. My 10 day checkin was last Friday, but I'm still dragging my feet whether I want to do it or not. I've not heard anything great about it, I'll decide today. If it means getting into our room sooner, then maybe, but we won't arrive until after 4:00PM anyhow.

Because of the reports here about online check in cancelling your requests, we have decided NOT to do it this trip. Maybe on our December trip when we have HH area booked, I might try it, but not this time.

On-line check-in doesn't get you your room sooner. When working correctly, it's suppose to make your wait time in the resort check-in line shorter, that's all.

I went ahead and did it this morning. I figured I won't know if I don't try. We are spending the day at the "dark side" and won't be arriving at the BCV until after 4:00PM that day. I did not make any requests on the request page as I didn't want it to cancel out my request of being near my family when they arrive later in the week. Plus I always ask for pool view. I think I might call MS just to double check on my requests. We've been pretty lucky in the past to be in the same hallway as the family (except last year at the BWV when we were at two different sides of the resort, but both on the ground floor!).

We did this at Easter and our rooms were ready when we arrived. AKL we arrived at 2pm and BCV was ready at noon. Don't know if this was because of online check on or not. It worked wonderfully for us and would do it again. But remember it's not guaranteed that your room will be ready.

We did on line check-in and our room was ready at 8:30 AM at OKW. Don't know if it had anything to do with on line check-in though. We had requested a golf course view when making our reservations thru MS. That wasn't a request option during on line check-in, but the CM checking us in stated that the golf course view was noted at the time of room assignment.

We went back and forth on weather we should do it or not. We decided to go ahead and do it since we had no special requests. We arrive on Friday at noon so I will let you know if the room was ready or not.

Interesting info. I will definately be looking into this when the time gets closer for us.

did online check in for the first part of my trip. arrive tomorrow at 1030am we will see how it goes akv

Did online checkin and the room wasn't ready when we checked in it was reay at 3:45 at BWV in March. We were the second to last room (near jellyrolls). DH had injured his foot and was stuck in the room for 2 days because he couldn't make it to the elevator!! Very quiet room though.

Did not do online checkin at HH last week and the room was ready at 9:45 AM.

I think it's the luck of the draw.

I think so! We decided to try it for our spring break trip March 15. We were at BCV and had no room area requests--like you, we were hoping for a ready room (about 11:30 a.m.) We were happy to see that it was ready. When you do the online check-in, it asks what time you expect to arrive at the resort. We thought it was great. We were greeted by a cm in the lobby, led to the front desk, and given our folder with everything in it--took about 2 min.

I have to disagree based on my own experience in March. Both times our rooms were ready for split stay during busy season. And that is ready by noon at WLV and by 11 am at BCV.

We did online check in, no requests.

So if getting in room early is important, do online checkin with your time of arrival noted.

Difficult to tell. We used on-line this past March. Had a split stay with multiple rooms. Most rooms were available mid afternoon.

I think the whole system is working fairly well right now. We had no problems.

Same here! And we expect to check in about 10:00 am on May 3 so we'll let y'all know how it works out without on-line check-in

question...

If you are buying the dining plan I'm guessing you can't do online check in?

I really have to read up on the whole online check in. I saw when it first came out that there were some mixed reviews about it and left it at that. However, now I'm a month out and don't know squat.

Does it give you an area for requesting where you want your room to be?
(ie near an elavator, on ground level, if on another level can you geet a full balcony?)

Can you do it with the Dinning Plan if you added it a few months back?

Is it available for all resorts? (Beach Club in particular)

I'm assuming you can do it 10 days out, is that correct?

Is there a thread to go over the basics?

How does the on-line system handle the dining plan?

Wow the same question twice while I was reading...
