We are taking my Mom in May to celebrate her 60th b'day and staying at the DLH. She hasn't been to DL since she was a kid, so this is a very special trip. If I called DLH do you think they would do anyting special? Even balloons in our room could be a fun surprise.

All the resort hotels will give you some balloons and an autographed picture for a special occassion (birthday, anniversary, etc.) You just need to let the CM know at check-in, and they will send some up to your room during your stay. Both my kids have gotten balloons and autographed pics on their birthday trips.

I have never gotten them and I told them that it was my granddaughter birthday. When I booked and when I checked in.

Hmmm...I guess all I can do is try! I think I will call ahead and then also remind them at check in, and if we don't get anything the first day or so, call again! ;)

They do not automatically do something. It can be hit and miss. To be sure there is something there for your Mom, you could just order something. If you want something special, you can call the hotel (they put me through to room service) and I pre-ordered a desert plate with balloons. This was for my nieces birthday. Yes, I paid for it, but I don't expect them to give things away for free. It's nice if it happens, but obviously it should not be expected.

If they don't have something ready for you (which of course involves letting them know ahed of time) quietly ask them if they could throw something together really quick. Alos, they will give your mom a birthday pin at the front desk which she can wear to the park. She will then recieve lots of Happy Birthday's. You can also get a birthday sticker at either Town Hall in Disneyland or guest services at DCA. But the pins are nicer and can be kept for a little keepsake. If you plan to eat any full service meals, tell them when you check in, they will bring a cupcake with a candle and sing Happy Birthday. Disneyland is a great place to spend a birthday, have fun!

You can call Vacation Planning and they can have autographed pictures of her favorite character and balloons in the room.

You can order speciall things like cookies and milk, rice krispie ears, special gift baskets, or even pre made ears waiting for her in the room.

The gift baskets are pricey but the other things are not terribly priced for a special suprise. The autographed pics are free!

oh yeah... Town Hall in DL now gives Bday buttons (and they have other cool ones like family reunion, first time visitor, honorary citizen, just married), just ask for one!

You can also ask to have a phone call from a special person at Town Hall. ;)

The tortilla factory usual gives a free bag of tortillas for the Bday person, free cake/cupcake at table service restaurants, lots of CMs giving birthday wishes in the park. It will be a fun day for your mom!

Thank you! I had not heard of such a service so I will call them this week! We don't need to do anything fancy or expensive as we are paying for this trip for her as it is, but something would be a nice surprise. Thanks for all of your replies!
