We'll be at DL 12/17 - 12/22 and I know that the new Star Wars opens on the 18th. Has anyone heard about DL doing anything special for the opening day???

Nothing at DL that I know of. Most of the stuff that is special for that area is done over at the El Capatan in Hollywood.

With the Season of the Force starting on Nov 16th, would you say to expect the crowds to be like it would be on a holiday or just slighty more than usual? This is our one day at Disney and trying to prepare myself. Thanks

I hadn't heard about the Season of Force... that looks awesome thanks for sharing the info!!!!!

There is a very big Star Wars following, so on November 16th, I think the crowds will be like holiday crowds. Prepare for that, if crowds are less than what you expect then awesome!

Have fun,

I wonder if they will have an extended preview in Its a Bugs life theater. Anyone know? That place is a great. I watched previews of Maleficent and Ant Man there and they were fantastic with all of the effects in that room.

I don't know if they'll be doing something special but the movie will be shown at the AMC theaters in downtown Disney. So I'm pretty sure the crowds will be insane outside the parks and will probably migrate over to inside the parks to check out Season of the Force. The other areas of the park might have less crowds though since most will be in Tomorrowland.

I don't think extended previews for Star Wars will be anywhere. They have been very choreographed and careful in their marketing, and a long look at the movie before it comes out seems unlikely. If they had wanted to do it, the place to put it would have been in the Captain Eo theater in Disneyland, and they are instead using that for a Star Wars clip show. Maybe they will toss a couple images from the upcoming movie into that or show the trailer that just came out the other night. The Bug's Life theater is currently being used for a preview of Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, and that will continue into early December I believe.

I'll be in DL for the opening, we have IMAX 3d tickets for opening night, thursday and tickets for el Capitan for official opening day, Friday.

I was hopeful that DL would get something since WDW has the dhs after movie party. But disney probably would have announced a DL event at the same time.

If nothing else, downtown Disney will most likely have a party atmosphere as people start to line up outside the theater early morning.

I'm going to keep my eyes open in the parks on Thursday and Friday though, wouldn't be too hard to have some extra meet and greet characters out.

All kinds of craziness for Star Wars. See the blog entry, also folks will be camped out. Cosplay be in full Force mode. Parts of the park will be dressed up for Star Wars. New gear and toys will be on full display. Vader on Ice!

I'd like to see the Tomorrowland theater show an extended clip of Star Wars. It's a good fit for the land, for the Season of the Force, and will absorb a decent amount of the insane crowds that will be there.
