Will Disney make it right or, it is what it is?

We have a reservation for end of September. We bought our tickets in January ahead of ticket price increases. With the uncertainty ahead, I know we can cancel our trip still and I can bank my points. But, our tickets are nonrefundable. I know we could possibly move our dates out, but we all know that’s easier said than done.
With rumors of soft openings or possible openings, I know I am going to be mad and little bitter if I do go and only a few things are open, yet I payed full price for that experience. Even though, I know we will get to go again, we are still talking about serious money. And if I wait until past my banking deadline, I’m out of luck there also. The first make right deals have been cash customer deals. Do you all believe they will do anything to help DVC members out if they have soft openings or partial openings?

I also wouldn't wait past the banking deadline. They have not been extending it.

I highly doubt Disney will offer any type of compensation for limited attractions/parks during the early months of reopening. I think this is especially true for DVC vs the CRO rooms. At this point, if the limited rides and other unavailable amenities are deal breakers I'd cancel and try and look for availability down the road.

We have a September trip that was butting up against my bf's work conference, but the conference was cancelled today. We are going to nix that trip and maybe book mid-January if our AP are extended that far. I initially said I'd consider it a success if I could sit by the pool by day and stroll the parks at night with an adult beverage....maybe get a ride in here and there. But the more we talked about it, the risk of the virus coupled with the less the full experience just isn't worth it for us....especially since all our air can be re-booked until December 2021. And as the poster above me said, we know we'll be back so the urgency just isn't there for us. We'd rather wait for the full experience, whatever that will be in the future.

It's a complete unknown at this time. I think if one decides to keep an existing reservation, it's a gamble, for sure.

It sounds to me that real issue you are having is with your park tickets. I'm not sure what type of ticket you have, when it starts or ends but if the parks aren't open during your ticket dates I would think Disney would extend your tickets. If the park/parks are open but with limitations they probable wouldn't extend your tickets. When we were there this past Jan 2020 it seemed that the front half of Epcot was a construction site so we didn't have a full park experience and there was no compensation for the lack of attractions. Also at MK the train has been down for two years or more due to Tron. I guess what I'm saying is that at any given time you could have rides out of commission with no compensation given back.

Look at HS this past Jan 2020, if you didn't get to the park by 5AM you didn't stand a chance to get on the new Star Wars rides so needless to say we didn't. Also Grauman's Chinese Theater wasn't open because it was still being updated for the new ride. The Slinky Rollercoaster was down every time we were in HS. Just giving examples of the parks not being fully operational. Not sure it helps but it demonstrates why Disney may not be willing to refund ticket price if the parks are only partially open.

Tickets retain their value and can be used towards a new ticket purchase on your next trip. No worries just keep the receipts.
