The fort continues to show sold out for this week. We snagged two dates but this Saturday is a no go. We have called, called, called. Online, online, online. I am driving the front desk crazy every hour. We did the funky 3 weeks of reservations thing. Nothing. Will Disney kick us out come 11:00 Saturday morning??? Will we be temporarily homeless during vacation??? Do you think it is REALLY sold out? I need more pixie dust and a good drink :sad2:

About all you can do is to keep checking even up till early A.M. on Sat, but if not successful you should be out by the stated check out time. For only 3 days it almost sounds like all you might be doing is trying to get that third day.

Good Luck and pixie dust is on it's way since I had some left over from my tranny bulletproofing ... see it really does exist and I might have the only container left:lmao:

At check out time, you only have to vacate your site. You are Disney guests until midnight.

Doesn't add the whole day you want, but does add half.

OK, this is something I have been told in the past, but I can't remember who....

Don't hold it against me if not true.

I was told that FW always holds back a couple/few sites for guests who extend their vacation after arrival. Can't hurt to ask when you check in if you can extend a day and if they say no, ask the day before checkout.

Again, not sure if it is true...

. . . Will we be temporarily homeless during vacation??? Do you think it is REALLY sold out? . . .
. . . if we are sold out, you will be asked to leave
. . . failing to comply, we have forcibly moved folks
. . . after all, we have to worry about the next guest
. . . if YOU were booked for a space and told it's gone, you would be upset

. . . there are no "hold backs"
. . . if listed as sold out, we are sold out

NOTE: Having worked The Fort's Concierge Desk during sold out periods, this has come up several times folks wanted to stay, but were told to leave or Security would have to step in. The Florida Law allows people to be removed if they overstay their ressies. It is a nod to the tourist industry.

Per Florida Statute Annotated, FSA 509.141, immediate hotel evictions for
. . . Disorderly conduct
. . . Nonpayment
. . . Using the premises for an unlawful purpose or act
. . . Bringing property onto the premises that may be dangerous to others
. . . Failing to register as a guest
. . . Using false pretenses to obtain accommodations
. . . Being a minor unaccompanied by an adult registered guest
. . . Violating federal, state, or local hotel laws or regulations
. . . Violating a conspicuously posted hotel or motel rule
. . . Failing to vacate a room at the agreed checkout time

You could park in the front parking lot. There is no hookups, but if the weather is nice, it can work. As for staying in the spot after you are supposed to, please don't be in my spot when I check in. ;)

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this! I've been looking everywhere for this information. I work at a hotel in South Florida and have been told repeatedly by my supervisors that we cannot force guests to leave if they overstay their reservation, but that sounded wrong to me. Some people would never leave! I'm glad to have the information to back myself up. Thank you!

This absolutely sounds correct.
That being said, I have never heard of Disney forcibly removng folk, But thats not to say they haven't just cause I've never heard of it happening.
Then again, if I was the next camper coming in , I'd be upset if I was knocked out because someone didn't leave according to their ressie stay.

UPDATE: We went up to the fort on Friday. We spoke to the front desk and they claimed that the sites continued to be booked with no cancellations. The temperature DROPPED... We took a stroll through the settlement and the trading post but it was miserable. Now, we are from Miami this cold was not fun. Friday night we could not sleep. We had two heaters running in the camper and tons of blankets. Saturday night I woke up and called to see if anyone had cancelled... no luck. It was still cold. We went to have breakfast and rode around the loops. We called again.. nope. We ended up being so miserable that we packed up and left. We visit the fort often, and it was just too cold. Maybe we will go back in April.

Now we made some friends and they called us not too long ago saying that alot of the sites were empty... :confused3

Their reservation system continues to :confused3 me also. Sorry this trip didn't go well. I'm sure the temps will be much better in April.

Our first trip to the Fort ended up being ruined from the weather also... not cold but thunderstorm after thunderstorm at night time. After 3 days we moved to the Port Orleans Riverside, and it was ok... Ever since we have had nothing but picture perfect trips. Hopefully next time will be the best ever for you!

One of those empty sites last night might have been mine. We were in 1503 and were supposed to leave this morning but last night we were so cold we decided to pack up and go home at 8:30 pm. We had the same experience you did on Friday night with the cold, we each had 3 blankets and we were all still freezing. I did stop by the front desk on our way out to let them know we were leaving though.

When we arrived on Thursday we were assigned site 1502, we did not like that site so we called the front desk to ask for 1503. I spoke with Mary and while she did get our site changed she told me it would take a while because the site was blocked. She also said that the whole 1500 loop was blocked off for a group coming in after our departure. As we were leaving last night there was a big party going on, so a big part of the group must have come in Saturday. There were quite a few sites set up with the rented FW tents and they had one site set up as a kitchen. So while I am not sure which type of site you had, I can say that 1500 loop had some empty sites put aside for this big group.

. . . alot of the sites were empty . . .

To Put an End to Confusion:
. . . you inquire about an extra night and be told "no"
. . . even at 8:00pm at night
. . . however, you can see several empty sites

1) Sites are like hotels rooms, they are paid in advance.
2) As long as the site is paid, it belongs to another camper.
3) Even if they haven't arrived.
4) If they paid for five nights, nothing says they don't arrive on day-4.
5) The site remains empty, showing up or not.
6) So, FW appears not full, when in fact, it is sold out.

We were there once during spring break and could not get an extra night. I was hoping we would get lucky but no such luck. It does sound like things did work out for you though. It alway amazes me how cold it can get there.

February ressies are always difficult to get. We come every year for our anniversary and have to plan months ahead. This year we decided to cruise the Dream and are on our way home now.

We were towed once. We had crystal palace ressies our last morning at WDW before we intended to depart. Everything was packed up, all we had to do was hitch up when returning to our site immediately after breakfast. Well.........

Our plans didn't go as planned. In a blink of an eye, our son(5years old then) wandered. Thanks to the wonderful people from Disney Security, we did get reunited after getting very shaken. Relieved that everything was OK, we headed back to the fort and found our site empty. We were towed and impounded. The security people at the fort were able to confirm our problem with Magic Kingdom security, so we were able to get our trailer and truck back with no problem.

I didn't plan on creating a problem, but I did and it was very embarrassing on many levels.

Wow. I'm amazed Disney did that. Do you know what time they had your trailer towed ?

IslandHtsCampers,,I'm surprized Disney tow'd you. So I reck'n it does happen.
But I goptta say, , there is NOTHING like the feeling in you the moment you realize your child is missing,,even horrifying can't begin to describe that feeling. I am soo glad all turned out well.

Wow, I'm surprised they towed you also. When I've checked in before and they told me that my site wasn't ready and it was after 3pm, I wondered how those people got to stay on my assigned site until 3pm. All I got from Disney was that they haven't left yet. Do you know what time it was that your camper was towed?
