What are the chances that Disney will stop selling annual passes? The move this year has been to offer discounted resort packages that include ultimate park hopper passes. Annual passholder resort discounts are not available past August 23rd.

Do you think someone decided that AP's were costing them money and they're testing to waters with packages? Maybe we should start writing some letters before they put the plan in place. It would effect lots of people.

Any thoughts?

John

No, I don't think they will. Don't confuse "AP discounts" with "AP." Although, it has always sort of amazed me that there are enough out of staters who buy AP to justify there being Fl. resident AP, Fl. resident SP, and non-resident AP. I wish they worked at disneyland.

I agree d-r! I have a WDW AP and live in PA, but also travel to CA on business and it irks me that my WDW AP doesn't count for anything. When I had a Six Flags AP, it was good at all the parks.
I've communicated this to numerous CMs at DL. It's especially upsetting when the DL CM asks about an AP for food or merchandise discounts and I tell them I have one, but it doesn't work on the West Coast. I'm almost at the point where I'm about to by an AP for DL in addition to the one at WDW. How's that for lunacy????

...an AP for DL in addition to the WDW.
LOL! That lunatic was me last year!

We're certainly in no risk of losing AP's, in fact they may have sweeten the pot a bit to keep pace with the competetion, but the benefits, aside from the AP savings themselves, certainly may start to dwindle...

Well, Daber, I kind of understand that they have completely different accounting systems and all, and I understand that disneyland APs cost a whole lot less than WDW APs, there are only 1.4 parks in Disneyland, compared to ~4 in WDW so they should cost less. So it makes sense to me that disneyland APs shouldn't work at wdw. It also sort of makes sense to me that Fl. Resident APs/Sps shouldn't work at Disneyland - they cost less as a service to Florida residence and to increase local business at wdw. But the out of state DW APs? Those things cost a lot. There is also the out-of-state Premium AP - the one that is good for water parks, etc. That sucker really ought to be good at disneyland as well, if for nothing more than a courtesy. Heck, it ought to be good at Paris and Tokyo, too, really make it an ultimate park hopper. Disney parks think local, but I'm acting global.

An out of state pass costs in the high 300's I do not exactly remember how much but I want to say like 379.
we have purchased one
on every other year and this was the first year I debated. In the past there were a few benefits but as it stands now there is really nothing. There are absolutely no discounts on them either. Here too you could use your Magic Kingdom or Disney Club card and get about 12 off of each. Not much but enough to buy a couple of waters in the park.

it is cheaper if you intened to go back than buying two 4 day PH passes each year. In the past the fact that these were even available was not all that well known. We have been Ap holders about 10 years. It was a much better deal when it started than it is now at least for those of us who can only use it twice a year.
I have seen the benefits for the out of state pass slowly erode away (but then what has not down there) so maybe I can see a phasing out. My husband observation of Disney is once something is perceived as a value then either get rid of it or downgrade it and raise the price. I tend to agree in this instance. I have watched the steady decline in benefits and the rise in price.

392.oo with out the discount which I did not have this time.Bought 4 of them and spread it out over a couple of months.

see, 400 bucks ought to get you into Disneyland, too, imho. I mean why not -
