I don't know if this has been discussed or not, but here goes anyway. It seems like Disney are collecting a lot of market research data recently (surveys, emails, 'what did you have for breakfast this morning' questions when you phone to price a resort room). I have seen it mentioned that they are not acting any differently than grocery stores who offer loyalty cards (they're collecting data on you too). The difference is the grocery are at least rewarding you for their nosiness with discounts and special offers.

Now, I'm not talking about the Disney Visa, I'm talking about a programme like the Hhonors or the SPG one? If it works for hotels like Sheraton, and for airlines, then surely it would work for Disney too? Would you be more likely to stay onsite, eat onsite, purchase collectibles and souvenirs onsite if you had a loyalty card? Does anyone think this will ever become a reality?

Just a thought

I think it would be difficult because not few families stay at WDW more than once or twice a year. I travel a lot for my job and I tend to stick to one hotel chain and airline to earn points. I travel to more than one location so it's more flexible and I have more opportunities to earn points. I would think a Disney loyalty program would have to be fairly generous to encourage to return more often than they normally would.

I've read where people staying at an onsite resort often receive a special offer of reduced resort rate if they return in the 6 months or so when they check out. That might be the best way for Disney to encourage loyalty.

What if the loyalty card were accepted at Disney stores and by Disney owned businesses? I see your point about the average family only staying once a year, but wouldn't it encourage a return visit the following year if you could rack up points? Also think of the Florida residents?

I think Disney has a LOT of repeat customers. How often they go is another story.

Disney has ALL of that information stored in their computer. It seems like they good research that data, and find the average time between repeat visits. Then, use that data to create a "points" type of system. Whereby after two or three annual visits, you accumulate enough points to get a certain discount on your entire stay, or one or two nights free.....something.

Their hotels are very expensive, and I think some sort of loyalty program would benefit them immensely.

Wow I am really all for this. We join every airline and hotel reward program and are rewarded greately free tickets etc. One year we bought Aps and stayed at the Poly 3 times. This would never happen again but DS had alot of business in Florida one year. I really felt like we should have been treated a little better for all the money we spent there that year. One time we didnt even get our longhouse request. The CM said, sorry that longhouse is not available. I had it on the reservation a while too so it was not a last minute request. I watch my budget very carefully at disney. Big shopping is definetely out of the question as is breakfast. I felt this time we stayed at the poly and swan and we got airlines miles at the swan to boot so thats a star in my book. Also when we booked the FTP package the CM commented to my DH, oh wow your name just popped right up on my screen and thats so unusual, it never does that. You must have stayed here alot. Hello, yes we did once. I really dont care what disney resort you stay at, I guess I am saying as the other posters, frequency of stays, meals, shopping etc. maybe extra sports etc. We only stay at a deluxe because of the 3 kids and I priced 2 seperate rooms at the all stars and got a better deal at the swan with govt. rate. Disney should really think about this. Even hilton has color coded cards for their guest rewards program based on number of stays etc. You are treated very nicely from gold on up. We are silver again sigh but will be gold soon enough. Hello Disney wake up and look at your guests LOL.
You sure know everything about my family by now. This time when making all my priority seatings the cm even tried to soft sell me the ice cream social, I said no thanks. So I dont know if she was advised to do this or just being nice. Hmm I like Disneys Delightful Guest Program. Pixie Dust would be the highest award level. Do you hear that tag fairy. Do you hear that tag fairy. Do you hear that tag fairy. Yes, pixie dust is the highest award level.
