Hello!

I have not been to Disney since 1986. I was a mere 7 years old.

My wife and are going to be there from January 3-10, 2009. We are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

According to Birnbaum's 2009 travel guide, this time is considered to be the least crowded. However, the 9th and 10th are the days of the Disney Marathon and the book says this weekend is most crowded.

We were hoping to go at a down time where there was little wait at any of the rides.

Have we messed ourselves up going this week?

I wish those of you who visit frequently can put me at ease.

I nervously await your replies.

Thanks!

we were there last year in Jan. and it was acutually a lot more full than we expected, because a TON of Europeans were there at that time. There weren't many Americans though. Maybe they have some big holiday in Jan.? I don't know if that was out of the ordinary, because we're usually there in Feb or March...

As far as the Disney Marathon I've heard one complaint and many positive things...the days of the marathon, the transportation system was PACKED to the max- but the parks weren't bad, because all the people were at the marathon. I've heard that the day or two after the marathon are busy, but not 100% sure that is to be true.

I am OK if Disney is packed after the marathon. My trip will be over with by then.

How long did you have to wait in line?

Thank you.
