We are a family of 6 and staying a week so I know I will have to do a load or 2 or 4:laundy: anyways I bought some of those laundry pods but got to thinking about how when you check your bags it's not pressurized in the cargo area so will they burst? I put them in a ziplock just in case but would hate to show up with no detergent. Thanks :)

We just returned from our trip on Saturday night. We packed Purex laundry pods in our checked baggage, and had no problems at all.

I have not had any issues either but put them in a ziplock just in case.

As PP stated cargo compartments are pressurized otherwise those folks who travel with pets that have to be placed in the cargo area would not be able to do so :thumbsup2

I travel with tide pods or Costco pods all the time. I pack each one in it's own ziplock bag, then place all the pods into a larger quart size ziplock bag. Then I pack each one in a small disposable glad container or snap ware. Probably overkill, but I have never had a problem.

I put them into a Tupperware container or a plastic box I used to store video game cartridges in (back in the days of the SNES and its huge carts) so they don't get crushed. Bursting in cargo isn't an issue as others have explained.

I took the Purex last June and didn't have the bursting issue, it was a dissolving problem. They did not spread evenly about the water leaving blue permanent stains on all of my whites, nighties, and lingerie. A brand new set of items for traveling last summer. It made me sick! I never did get any of the stain out of the clothes.
I buy the tide packets at Target and take dryer sheets.

I had the same problem with the purex too!! only it was on new expensive sheets!! and I didn't know it until after I had dried them in the dryer and of course, I couldn't get the stains out either! :headache: I won't use the powdered packs anymore, it has to be a liquid type pack because of that issue.

I took some of the liquid-filled dishwasher pods since we were staying in a townhouse. I put them in a plastic container with a lid so they wouldn't get squished, and then put the container into a ziplock. They were fine on the flight.

I don't know how tough the things are (don't use them) but my only worry would be about them getting crushed. So I would pack them in a hard sided container or, at least, a ziplock bag. That will protect everything else in the suitcase. The way luggage is handled at times is my concern!
