Will Characters Sign This?

Going to WDW in a couple of weeks and the kids love getting autographs. But I really don't want another set of autograph books they'll never look at again. I would like to use the 9" create your own vinylmation, but had read conflicting information on whether characters will still sign them in The World. Does anyone have recent experience with this, or know of other restrictions on what characters will sign?

I know they won't sign anything offensive or currently being worn, and some characters can't sign anything even books. Any other rules or No No's? I just would rather not bring something special, get the kids excited, and have Cinderella give me the "Nice try, Lady" raised eyebrow.

Thanks for your expert help!

I'm not sure about the vinylmation, but they had no problem signing a pair of mouse ears. The only issue you may run into is the size of the signatures. Princess Jasmine broke character with us during CRT and when it was time to wrap up said that she was going to sign smaller than normal so she could participate too. She was really nice and we didn't mind that she was out of character... no kids were around to break the magic. :)

This was meeting the Incredibles

Really? That's surprising to me (that some will refuse to sign all together, while others have specific caveats as to what they will or will not sign).. I mean, I get "we won't sign inappropriate things," but I've seen characters sign practically anything Disney, so long as you provide something that they CAN sign... I've seen characters signing black shirts with silver permanent markers...

Some characters are not signing characters, Like Lightning McQueen and Mater. Other characters have a Stamp, like Buzz. Other characters will not sign during events. You can't get the 7 Dwarves and Snow White to sign at the Halloween party, you can't get the entire cast of Cinderella to sign at the Christmas party.

I thought I had read that they won't sign vinylmations anymore. They are tough for characters to sign since they lack a flat surface. But I'll let others chime in on the OPs question.

Your vinyl Mickey looks great, HopperFan! I'm pleasantly surprised all the signatures are so legible. How recent was your Incredibles signing?

I especially like Jimminy Cricket's Umbrella BTW. We've never been able to spot him.

I wish it were mine. It was someone else so I took a picture so I'd remember to do that next time. I think it was a year ago. I have never seen any issue signing all kinds of stuff. I think the only real NO is they won't sign something you are wearing.

PS I've seen Jimminy at parties, maybe they took it there.

Jiminy was at AK around Earth Day this year - he could be found at Rafiki's Planet Watch.
Disney Parks Moms Panel had a post where someone asked about getting vinylmations signed in 2013 and the response was the characters would sign anything except something you are wearing. But that was 2 years ago and google doesn't seem to be pulling up anything current for me about it.

So I bit the bullet and ordered 2 from the Disney Parks Shopping app. I'll let you all know how it goes. Fingers crossed.

we had lightsabers signed by Star Wars characters, but that was several years ago too. The signed vinylmation is very cool, and meeting Jiminy Cricket would be awesome!

I'm going in October and plan on buying a vinylmation at DD first day for the characters to sign (for me!!) - making 4x6 cards for my daughter to have characters sign (then we can put them in a photo album with the photo of the character next to the autograph

My only concern is carrying that thing around in a backpack for 6 days

We did the vinylmations a couple years ago, so I don't know if they still sign them. The only thing is that we used sharpies, but many of the signatures aren't staying on even though we don't handle them, they have been on a shelf. Also if you do have them signed during meals watch out for the grease on kids fingers while handling them, I am wondering if that is why some of our signatures are rubbed off. Maybe I should have sprayed them with some clear sealer once we got home.

Ooo I love the light saber idea. Whenever the new land opens in DHS or if we make it to Starwars Weekends DS will have to bring his.

With so many creative options, I wish I wouldn't have bought the standard issue autograph books the last two times since the kids haven't looked at them afterwards. Somehow it never occurred for to me in all my über planning.
