Based on this article, it appears that as of Sept. 20, you will likely need proof of vaccination or negative COVID test, self attestation will no longer be accepted for outdoor gatherings of 10,000 people or more or indoor gatherings of 1,000 or more. Am I reading this wrong? DH and I are fully vaccinated, so not a big deal, but this doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere here and I would think people should be given a heads up so they don't show up unprepared because they were unaware.

I wouldn’t think so, considering the theme parks, people are spread around, which is different than a concert where everyone is grouped together. Always a good idea to have the vax cards on the list of items to pack though, just in case. Things are always changing .

"The guidelines apply to events like concerts, sports games and parades. " - Disneyland currently has cavalcades which could be interpreted as parades so they may be required to cut the cavalcades or require vaccination to view the cavalcades, effectively putting Disneyland under the rule.

"The revised rules don’t cover venues like malls or museums “that are open to public circulation as part of their regular operations,” unless they host a large indoor event" - Many museums have tickets for admission so Disneyland could argue that they are exempted under this rule.

I think we'll have to wait and see how this plays out.

Please no comments on if this is a good or bad idea, just asking if I interpreted this correctly.

I sincerely appreciate you posting this as I would like to know also. Planning to travel with the Fam from out of state in the next couple months. Trying to keep current in these changing times is hard. Heck, it’s hard enough sometimes to keep track of what I’m supposed to do in my own state! So thank you, thank you, for the information! :)

Looking forward to hearing the verdict on the theme parks…will vaccine proof be required per the new state guidelines for September 20th?

The last time these kind of rules came up, theme parks were not an “event” or “gathering” and were their own category with their own rules. It’ll be the same here. These event/gathering rules won’t apply to theme parks.

This will be interesting in that the Halloween parties DO have parades.

If parades are canceled that will be a major blow to the Halloween events.

Also, people gather close for fireworks…

You also could argue that indoor queues are large gatherings. Maybe not 10k people, but hundreds and collectively around the park possibly thousands indoors at any time.

Looking forward to how this develops…

CA has had this in place for a while for events of 5000+. All the new rule is doing is reducing the number to 1000.

I feel this is the direction things are heading (meaning, the requirement of vaccines or negative tests) if the new number is now 1,000 people. The issue is, how does Disney (or any theme park) implement this without making the entry lines super long?

They would probably use something like the clear health pass where you pre upload your vaccine or test info to create a QR code. Sports venues use it.

Not exactly. They WERE classified as mega events in the guidance released prior to June 15, but they were given the option to "strongly recommend vaccination" and allow for self attestation, which is what they are doing right now with the acknowledgement that you have to read and click on before purchasing tickets.

This new rule might change things.

Not hard, just tell everyone they have to have their proof of vaccination or COVID card out with their ticket. If they don't, send them to the back of the line.

I'm hoping they do include theme parks in the 'large gathering' group, but I doubt if they will. They didn't before and I don't think they're going to start swimming upstream now.

I saw recently two separate incidents of people using fake vax cards, one couple to enter Canada, the other a family at an airport (I don't remember where in the US this was). Judging by the number of people up in arms over simply wearing a mask, I hate to think of the number of people who might try to use fake docs to enter DLR or WDW because they don't want to be vaccinated. Add to that Disney's somewhat lax attitude towards rules enforcement when it might result in bad PR, and I think it's quite likely those people wouldn't be questioned or turned away.
