Will be a while before we go back

It was yeshiva week up here in NY. Not sure how much that would affect the crowds though.

We did a weekend in January and it was much more crowded than we have seen previously. We did find out there was a cheerleading competition there that weekend which had hotels sold out, but the waits were crazy.

There is cheer leading groups for competition this week and last also, but for the most part they have been relatively quiet and controlled. Waaaay better than some other unnamed groups that we have encountered in the last several years!! 'No' chanting, thankfully!

I have seen these types of posts often on this boards. Truth is there are many other great places for family travel in the US that are enjoyable and affordable. We took our kids 5x to WDW/DL between the ages of 5-14, alternating those types with drivable distance trips or via planes: DC, Kitty Hawk, NYC, Chicago, San Fran, National Parks, Museums, Atlantic coast, etc.... I grew up big WDW fan (15 trips total lifetime) but also had opportunities when young, on business and now with my family to see many other US spots. Sometimes and at some point easy to get bored or frustrated with WDW as it is an expensive and often challenging trip/vacation, so makes sense to me that you would want a change of place and experience. I get that for some people they love WDW and enjoy going frequently (just like I have friends and family who love Las Vegas, their lake house, sporting events etc....) but can also see and understand need to change it up and search out other places as well.

we switched 4 years ago to an every other year schedule. We used to go every year and many time twice a year.

The girls 8 and 14 are older now and enjoy trying new things. As we go to new places, it keeps them grounded in reality and every 2 years we get back to our happy place. Next month we will be there for the first time since March 2014. So excited to ride 7DMT, see the construction for all the new stuff, and prime us for the next trip in 2018.

Don't want to burst your balloon, but just to make your expectations
realistic. We're here now and ready to leave - the construction and closures are everywhere - puts even more strain on the existing attractions. We will definitely go other destinations for the next few years, maybe longer.
