Didn't I read this here? I don't see a specific mention in the Unofficial Guide about this as a restriction, but I know I read it somewhere. I'm bummed because I know DD3.5 will love this, and I would, too - she can still go with DH but I'll be out of luck if this is true. Or maybe I'll just be glad to sit down for a while!

Thanks for any advice...

It's on the list, but having ridden it before, I thought it was safe enough to ride when I was 6 months pregnant.

I requested a seat up front, because it's not as bumpy up there, and I didn't take any pictures so I could hold on with two hands to brace myself.

Amy :)

I went to DW at 6.5 months pregnant and didn't ride as Disney says not to. It's too bumpy and surely not worth the risk of harmimg the baby. I figured that a very short safari ride isn't worth the risk. If it were me, I would not do it for anything in the world. There are plenty of other things you can do w/DD at DW that you can equally enjoy. Good question though. HTH

toh

i did it at 34 weeks pg. no problems at all; i don't think it is much more bumpy than the backseat of an suv.

I think it is very bumpy, though can vary depending on the driver. I wouldnt risk it. There are walking trails where you can enjoy some of the animals.

I rode it at 6 months pregnant also, and it was fine. No problems, just a little bumpy, but no worse than my husbands driving!! :teeth:

If you must ride it, then definitely request a front row seat. The back is way more bouncy! But for the record, I do agree with the pp who said why risk it.

I rode it when I was about four months pregnant. I'd had a normal healthy pregnancy to that point so I wasn't too concerned. Had had a previous normal pregnancy. I wasn't showing and was still wearing normal clothes I didn't have a belly getting in the way. Rode all sorts of things that I probaby wasn't supposed to...drew the line at ToT, RnR and Kracken at SeaWorld, though. Would not go upside down. I'd ridden it before, so I knew what to expect. Held on with both hands.

Oh, I also talked to the OB/Gyn before I went about restrictions and he was ok with me riding most of the more adventerous rides and he is very conservative. He also knew I still rode my horses up to about five months pregnant. Why not check with your OB and see what they say?

When I did disney at 25ish weeks, I did ride the Safari (as well as some other rides that I am sure others on the board would shake their finger at me for) and I think when push comes to shove, we all have to make our own decisions. The big thing to remember that, heaven forbid, something negative should happen with your pregnancy are you going to be hunt for ways to blame yourself so that even if the causes for the negative outcome were not at all related to a ride at Disney, would you still beat your self up about going on the rides and assume the blame (A TOTALLY NORMAL RESPONSE TO THE SITUATION). Think about it. Also, during my trip, only one CM even noticed I was pregnant and it was en route to splash. She said "we don't recommend this ride for pregnant women." To which I replied, thank you for your concern and went on my favorite ride in the park.

As I've said elsewhere, like Pocahontas1, my OB supported my judgment in Disney and advised me to avoid anything with A LOT of force/gravity exerted (roller coasters, T of T, Mission Space). The bumps on the safari may be uncomfortable...but I didn't find them to be troublesome. Remember, Disney and your OB are giving advice partially motivated by sincere concern, but moreover motivated by the CYA attitude necessary to avoid litigation. But that they have the policies, suggest their have been negative outcomes and lawsuits...

Enough of my ramblings. Let your concious and your opinion of legitimate risk of harm be your guide.

I've been on it a zillion times. It all depends on the driver. Some rides seem worse than others. I did not ride it while pregnant. I had lost 2 pregnancies before this one, and there was no way I was going to take the risk!

I think Main Street in my hometown is bumpier than that ride.

My DW went on it at 8 months pregnant. Nothing about that is bumpy enough to harm the baby. Heck I transport mothers to be in the ambulance and it is more bumpy than that. :)

I was 34 weeks on our last trip and I didn't go on it. I still remember my grandmother saying to avoid bumpy roads or you'll go into labor. :rotfl:

OT
all4fun Are those the original straps in the Jeep stroller or did you buy something to turn it into a 5 point harness? I have the double and i really don't like the 3 point when the kids are really young.

I did not go on it when I was 5 mo pregnant. I ended up being annoyed that I skipped it when my Dsisters came out and said it would've been fine. Oh well. Again, as was said, I think it will be your choice. Disney says no, but they have to make sure they are covered, and cautious.

I took my then 8 month old on the ride. He loved it. When the ride would stop he would bounce himself up and down (asking for more) until it started again. It's like driving on a very bad road with holes or speed bumps. I was worried about getting on it with the baby but was told by the CM that it would be okay.

 I rode the safari twice. The first time it was bumpy. The second time we sat in the back and it was EXTREMELY BUMPY!!!!!!!!!! I was actually a bit surprised how bumpy it was.
Personally, I would skip the ride this time. I'm sure you will be back again sometime, but if you take the baby on that safari////aghhhh!!!!!! HOLD ON!!! :earboy2:

We went to the AK when I was 28 weeks pregnant. My DH, who is an ob-gyn, did not think I should ride on it. My sister, who is also an ob-gyn, was with us (ob-gyn conference at BWI) and she agreed. Why take the risk? I just went the next time (1.5 yrs later).

I was 20 weeks pregnant last year when we went and I noticed that as well. It's a bumpy ride but no different than going on a bumpy drive down a bumpy road. None of the CMs said anything to me at all.

DH, DS3 and I went in Oct '03 while I was 7ish months prgnant. I was showing ALOT. CM at entrance to ride stopped me and said that I would not be allowed on ride due to my condition. I was OK with this because I was actually questioning wether or not I should ride. However I did not know that a CM could stop someone from riding. :confused3 After checking into this, guest services said that a CM has the right to refuse entrance onto any ride if they deem the ride unappropriate for a guest, or a guest unappropriate for the ride(aka drunk).

Somewhere that if you rode it, to ride up front. We did that and it was not bad at all. I was about 20 weeks. I did research before I went and did not ride any of the extreme rides, but this was not too bad at all..especially in the front. :cheer2:
