Will AP block help Thanksgiving+weekend considering...

Is it crazy to visit the holiday weekend vs waiting for the following weekdays? Do many APs upgrade to signature plus towards the holidays? curious what your experiences are with AP blocks

Edited to be concise. I’ve been made aware that only 1 tier (Deluxe) is blocked on the Fri/Sat of Thanksgiving weekend.

Looking at the weekend before Thanksgiving, the week of Thanksgiving & holiday weekend, as well as the week after (or as late as the first couple days of Dec)- what would you roll the dice on?

Is it crazy to consider the holiday weekend? Do tons of APs upgrade to signature plus towards the holidays? I’m not from Cali so curious what you all think.

also seen it mentioned that the non-AP holiday visitors may not make great use of MP and EMH, so will that be an advantage during a more crowded time?

You just have to have a Signature to go over Thanksgiving, not Signature Plus. Signature is only blocked out over Christmas. There are quite a lot of signature pass holders, and quite a lot of people who visit Disneyland over Thanksgiving.

FWIW, I've gone to DL on Thanksgiving for the past two years (and I plan to go this year). Crowds have never been that bad. Certainly they haven't been bad enough to keep me from going. If you're halfway thinking about going on Thanksgiving, I encourage you to take the leap!

Signature plus is rarer-pretty much just if you are planning on going the weeks surrounding Christmas. Really only worth it if you will have someone in town for only those weeks and plan to visit.

Signature is popular for a variety of reasons. Almost no blackout dates, especially summer Saturdays-so those end up being the emptiest days! And parking is included, plus larger discounts!

Ah, I see what you mean about Deluxe being blocked fri/sat but at least two tiers of AP are not blocked til Signature during Xmas time. I appreciate your feedback about this thanksgiving weekend.

I think it depends on your definition of crowded. We went at Thanksgiving last year and a friend went as well with her family (we only met up for one ride, but otherwise did completely separate vacations). She was used to going early December, felt it was way too crowded and doesn't plan on going back. We thought it was busy, but not nearly as bad as we expected and will be down again Tuesday night before through Friday.

We went last year the weekend before Thanksgiving and will be back again this year. It's crowded. It's always crowded this time of year. It probably won't be capacity crowded like Christmas, but it's still going to be crowded.

Edited to add that even though it's packed, it's still wonderful. Just worth mentioning that which time you go might not matter as much since the holiday stuff tends to draw more crowds than even summers do.

Just want to add that the Signature Plus pass isn't all that rare. Yes, the Signature AP does seem to be more common, but we know plenty of people who are at the Sig. Plus level. Also, we know people who get the Signature AP (or renew at that level), then upgrade at the end of the year when they have family who visit and want to go to DLR for Christmas or NYE. They pay for the original AP and their family pays for the upgrade. As previous posters have stated, the parks will be crowded from Thanksgiving onward, no matter what (APs, no APs, or what have you)! The more, the merrier! Just be prepared for crowds and have fun.
