Will a cast on an arm detract from the experience?

Next week, my mom, dd (17) and ds(9) will heading to DL. Just under 3 weeks ago, ds broke his wrist. The doctor said about 3 1/2 weeks in a cast, which puts in the middle of the vacation. The doctor recommended keeping it on through vacation, but said it could come off anytime after the 10th (we leave the 12th). Aside from rides where it might get wet, will it detract from his experience? This will be his first real trip.

Bring a "Tall kitchen" trash bag or two. Wrap your cast. You'll be fine on Splash Mountain. We had a member of our party in a leg cast to the knee. Trash bags and shoelaces were our friend! NO PROBLEM!

Have fun!

DD had a cast above the elbow whole summer. It never detracted from anything LOL
Did your son get waterproof cast? If not I would either see if you can get a waterproof cast so you don't have to worry about it getting wet or get one of the waterproof covers (not just a trash bag just so you don't have to mess around with making it trully waterproof).
Also, you might want to check with the dr see if the wrist is healed the day before you leave. But either way, I don't see it make your experience any less magical.

He'll have a blast. :thumbsup2

Is the cast on his writing / throwing arm? If so, it might affect his scoring on the Buzz & Toy Story rides....but wouldn't prevent him from having fun on them.

Have him do Jedi Training.....I bet with the cast he'd be the first on picked. :hippie:

Might want to avoid Davy Crocketts Canoes though.

Have a great time at Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

:)

My daughter broke her wrist (hairline) right before a trip to DL when she was 5. We got a neon pink fiberglass cast with a waterproof wicking liner and she was able to swim, go on wet rides, etc... AND the princesses and characters all signed her cast. We still have it to this day as a souvenir.

It was about an extra $100 for the waterproof option for us, and it was totally worth it, IMO. Just being able to bathe without worrying it was great, but since it was swimming season, we for sure didn't want anything to interfere with her fun.

Thanks. His cast is not totally waterproof, but I did buy a sleeve so he could shower. It's compact enough to carry around. He's worried about the shooting gallery...saw a pic and wanted to try it. He's a Star Wars fanatic (I can't tell you how many light sabers he owns) and would love to do the Jedi Academy. It sounds like it won't be a big deal to wait until we get back, since before is at the beginning of the removal window and I would really hate for the trip to be interrupted because he re-injured it. Who knows...it might even make his first real trip to dl more memorable

Thanks I had seen it, but I went back and read the whole thing. I'm going to see if I can come up with something creative for a sign. It sound like they really work especially as DD isn't going to let him buy another lightsaber if she has anything to say about it.
