to your stateroom safe and sound if you drop it off with the porters when you drop off your luggage - Disney's price for a 24 pack is $35! Will they even allow you to do that? Thanks

DCL requires that any beverages you bring onboard be carried on. Not checked. From the DCL website:
Beverages must be packed in your carry-on bag—which must not exceed 22 inches wide, 14 inches high and 9 inches deep in dimension

There's really no reason to bring bottled water onboard, anyway. The water they serve, and from the taps is processed the same way bottled water is - reverse osmosis/filtered.

My suggestion is to bring a refillable water bottle for each person and fill it from your stateroom sink or the water from the drink fountains. Using a new cup to fill it of course. :)

Yes, you are allowed to bring your own water onboard (but I agree with above that it is not necessary...but if you want you can).

No, you can't put it in with your checked luggage or with the porters. DCL wants all beverages brought onboard to be in carry on bags.

You can take your case of water and put it in a duffle bag and wheel it onboard...no problem there.

Does this refer to the water that comes from the stateroom sinks or just the water at the drink stations and dining areas?

All water onboard. The water that comes from the tap in the bathroom, is the same water that comes from the drink station tap,and is the same water your server gives you at dinner.

I had read that DCL required it to be "carry-on", so when we cruised I packed a carry-on inside of a carry-on so I would have an extra suitcase on arrival (to roll it around). However, when we were dropping off with the porters, I told them which bag had to be separate because it was water. They told me it didn't and tagged it with a luggage tag.

That's because the porters are not DCL employees. They are not going to jeopardize a tip because they (should) say "no" to checking cases of water.

Personally, I'd be nervous about whether or not my checked beverages may leak all over someone elses belongings. I have a picture of one of the luggage rooms onboard where the checked bags are "placed" before delivery to the rooms onboard. I can't get to it right now, but it's not pretty. Basically the bags are stacked (and not neatly as it appears they are just tossed in) over head high in the room.

The problem with giving it to the porters us you don't know if it is going to end up on the bottom of the luggage cage or in the middle or the top. Imagine if it was in the middle and got smashed and one or more bottles broke? The damage to someone else's clothing........ The porters do not work for DCL and the want your tips. If DCL requires you to carry it on, you should. The porter can't say it's OK.

I honestly cannot imagine why you would need all that bottled water :) just get a cup of ice water anywhere :)

A couple of bottles is a good thing to take with you on shore excursions. Other then that you really don't need them. We brought onboard 8 bottles of water in our carry-on lugguage and we had 2 bottles left from a 7 night cruise.

Have your stateroom host to fill the ice bucket. Than when starts to melt you have very good and very cold water

The water bottles needs to be carried in by you. You can try at port giving a tip and checkin them in inside a bag but Disney is not responsible for them. Enjoy!!!!

If people disregard DCL's requests they may pull the wonderful perk of allowing us all to bring on whatever beverages we want....no other cruise line lets you bring on whatever you want to consume onboard.

It really is not a huge inconvenience to carry it on with you (especially if it is in a bag with wheels) considering the benefit of being allowed to have it. Why jeopardize a good thing. DCL could easily stop offering this perk if people are abusing their simple beverage guidelines.

We just took our very first cruise in February. We picked up a 24 pack of water and it actually fit in a large back pack we had. My teenage son easily carried this on board. It was incredibly convenient to just grab several bottles when heading out at ports. We will definitely do this again on our next cruise. One case was plenty for our family of 5 and for the $4 or $5 we paid for it, it was well worth it. If you prefer bottled water, feel free to bring it. :)

You only have to be on the receiving end of someone's burst bottle of whatever liquid to appreciate the reason for DCL's requirement that you carry on your beverages. And there have been many photos posted on the boards of full luggage containers. If you want bottled water, cans of soft drinks, or bottles of wine, bring them and enjoy them. BUT, please do it the way DCL requests regardless of what a non-DCL employee might allow you to do.

Please follow the rules so we can keep this perk!.

Also if you damage or wet anothers parties clothing/ property, DCL will reqiure you to pay for the damage and cleaning.::yes::

This is so true! There are some things that is really great perks in DCL and one is the ability to bring on personal beverage. I liked the fact that I could have a glass of wine on the Veranda when I wanted and the simplicity of taking a waterbottle with me on Portdays.
If this is abused DCL will stop this perk!
