Wildwood, FL - I75 to FL Turnpike

Driving south down I75 & want to get as close to WDW as possible b4 our package ressie starts.

Has anyone stopped overnight here? There is what looks like a very nice Sleep Inn right off the interstate (1st FL Turnpike exit from I75) & it's gotten pretty good TripAdvisor reviews.

This will put us exactly one hour from WDW.

Should i just go ahead & drive into Orlando & get a room there?

If so where have you stayed offsite one night b4 switching over to WDW?

We stayed there once when we had our oldest son and his family with us. He(son) just couldn't make it one more mile. It's nice and clean ,and the BBQ place will deliver to your room. It's a Woody's BBQ.

Never stayed in Wildwood, so I can't help you there. However, we've stayed close to Orlando a couple of times, once in Lake City (2 1/2 hours away), and the other time in Gainesville (2 hours away). Both were easy drives into Orlando.

My gut reaction is for y'all to stay in Wildwood. The PP mentioned the point where her son couldn't drive one more mile. You don't want to go there.

Assuming you get to Wildwood at a fairly decent hour (let's say 7 PM), you can eat, bathe and still be in bed in time for a good 8 hour sleep. Chances are, you'll be antzy to get on the road again after your sleep. You're on the road at 6, at the resort by 7, checked in and tickets in hand by 7:30, on the bus at 8 and riding the Seven Dwarves Mine Train by 9:10.
