What gives with the wildly fluctuating airfares. Checked prices for my trip at the end of July on Wednesday and prices were sky high -- around $290 (last fall we thought $130 was high!!!). Yesterday, they dropped on both SW and Delta to around $200. This morning, I went to purchase; and prices were around $250. I've never seen prices vary so much from day-to-day!!!! Needless to say, I didn't book our tickets. The drive from here is not bad and far, far cheaper. If airfares stay like this, we'll just drive.

It is nice that you have the option of driving. We live in Denver and have to fly. I'm looking for airfare for next March and all it has done is go up. I don't know how long to wait for if I've already waited too long. I would love to get a flight for less than $200 a person, but I don't think it is happening. I would be happy with a direct flight for $250.

There used to be American flights with a stop that were $252 for a long time and then jump to $303 - I just looked and the cheapest American flight is over $600 a person - I hope it is just a middle of the night thing and they will come back down. The next best is $431 for Ted - but at least it is a direct flight with times I like. I hope the prices come back down or I may have blown it.

I know exactly what you mean. Last year we paid $160 for flights out of Detroit in Jan. Looking for Jan 06' those flights are $260-$290!!

I hoping they may drop the closer the date comes. We booked in Nov for Jan last year at the $160 rate

I paid $250 pp rt out of our little regional airport connecting to a major airport and then down to Orlando. In order for me to get this "low" price I had to take an 8am flight home. The flights later were over $100 pp more.

My friend decided to join us this Oct. She tried to get that same flight as us. However, this flight is now prices over $400.. and she'll have to take a 6am flight home. We'd still be meeting in our hub airport and take the same commuter flight home only she'd be waiting 2 additional hours in the hub airport. If she wanted to take our same 8am flight out of Orlando it's $70 more pp.

We keep checking several times a day for a lower price. I'm not sure what she's going to do if she can't get it.

DH just shakes his head when he thinks about the $99 pp rt flight we got in 2000.

Hi, I am going 'with' some friends, they booked earlier than I with a TA. I did not have cash at the time and waited and booked through SouthWest directly online site. I also downloaded ding and check it FREQUENTLY. I ended up getting a cheaper flight than my friends that thought they had a great discount. My advice is to go directly to the airlines online sites and see, also be slightly flexible with your dates, and times. IF I could of stayed at WDW just one day longer my flight would of been even cheaper!!! enough to pay for the resort nite!! (Can't stay because of dd's summer county fair project)...Now I am considering purchasing the dining plan card?? do you have to purchase for everyone in the group? I have kids that do not eat THAT much, any advice?? D4Tink :mickeybar yes we're having some of those!!

before you book your flight, check and see what the price for crude oil is.Friday it closed at $57+ a barrel. this is one reason that the price is high.

You only need to purchase 1 DDE membership (if you qualify for it FL resident or AP holder) You will get 2 cards and it will give you a 20% discount on your entire meal (up to 10 people)

Mine has paid for itself.
