Wildlife Discovery Excursion?

Has anyone done the Wildlife Discovery Excursion that is available for concierge guests? If so, what were your impressions of it? Do you get to see a lot of animals? What time did you go-10am or 1pm? Thanks

We have done it three times - twice on one trip! Yes, we love it. We'll be going again on our trip in December.

You go on the same basic route as the regular Safari, though you start off backstage, however you pull off the road at various places while they discuss the animals. As with the regular Safari, sometimes you see more animals; it depends on where they are and what they are doing. The guides talk about taking care of the animals and working with them and answer any questions. We really enjoy it and everytime is different because the guides all work with different animals so all have different favorites and knowledge.

We have always gone on the 10am one as that time just works out better for us.

We have done it twice once in December 2006 & once in May 2007 both were good, the first one in December 2006 was the best one. We did the 1PM. Saw plenty of animals.

We did it in May two years ago and took the 10:00 a.m. one. We were the only people on it so had our own private safari. We were gone about an hour out into the wilds of Africa and saw many animals up close. We took several trips off the beaten path and made many picture stops. The neat thing was the guides knew all the animals by name and told us little stories about each of them. We are going to do this again either this May or December.

Huntconn, I did it with friends and really had a wonderful time. I have a handful of photos posted in one of my on-line photo albums: click here.

We were on the morning excursion and it was during the dog days of summer (August), but we still saw plenty of animals. Plus, our Guide was wonderful. Very informative and quite personable. She really made the whole trip worth it.

If you take the excursion, I hope you have a wonderful time.

I LOVE this excursion! I've taken it 3 times.

once in the AM and twice at 1pm

Both were excellent, although the AM trip did seem a little more active on the savanahs.

My fiancee went for the first time this past July and she still talks about that excursion (a 1pm trip) being the best part of our trip.
