Wildlife at OKW

Doc,

Thanks for the info about Muscovy ducks. We saw one particularly large one about three years ago when we were staying in Bldg. 43 at OKW. We nicknamed him "Big Guy" at the time since he dwarfed everyone else. He had a deformed or broken foot, probably a "golf injury". He, along with an army of smaller water fowl, would walk up to our patio whenever we went out.

Regarding aggressive behavior by WDW animals, we noticed on the last trip that the gulls were getting pretty plentiful everywhere, including the parks. Trying to eat outside on the patio at Cosmic Ray's is getting nearly impossible unless you want to share your food with the gulls. :D

Last Novemeber, we heard a commotion in the little pond outside our room (bldg 44, ground floor). Our grand daughter said " Big bird" , I looked out to the porch and I saw a Huge Golden Eagle attacking the ducks in the pond. He did not succeed, thankfully! Later that day on our boat trip to DTD, The Boat driver pointed out their nest and told us that they were a nesting pair and have been in that area for several years. You all can add Armadillos to the list along with those Coumerand birds. Also in 1997 we saw a pair of the Florida Cranes.. Huge multicolor birds, almost 7 feet tall in the golf course, we were in bldg. 37 that time.
