Wilderness Lodge

We are thinking about staying at Wilderness lodge,First week of Aug. Always have stayed at Value or Mods. Is it a lot nicer then CBR or CSR? If I pay rack rates is there any chance to get a code rate latter on? Also what kind of pool does Wilderness Lodge have, is it crowded, does it have a slide like CSR? Any help?? Thanks.....

We stayed at WL in September and loved it. I have stayed at value, moderate and deluxe resorts, and WL is my favorite! I really enjoy having a balcony and the fact that the rooms are not spread out like they are at the value and moderate resorts is also a big plus to me. Plus, you can take a boat to MK which is so much nicer that taking a bus. When you take the boat ride back to WL, the resort looks so beautiful and impressive. The pool is great and does have a slide. There is a children's pool area and 2 hot tubs, if I remember correctly. The rooms are not as big as other deluxe resorts, but it is a less expensive deluxe resort after all. WL is a great deal, in my opinion. If the monorail resorts are more than you want to spend, you can still stay close to MK without spending as much $. I just love it there!!

I concur with limabean. This is one (if not "the" one) of my favorite resorts. I love the theming, the boat to MK, the atmosphere and the pool. My DD7 loves the slide. If you get an inside courtyard room you will be stunned by the view. I've stayed at value, mods & deluxes and this is the one I've stayed at the most. We love staying at Pop for a weekend here and there, but WL ranks right up there when we want to go deluxe (we love the AKL too, but I'll give a slight edge to WL, unless you stay concierge in which case I prefer AKL).

It is so hard for me to explain the feel of this resort. I thought I would hate it and now it is one of my favorites! It is so beautiful. We were there in Nov. and enjoyed the pool. It was not crowded and there is a quiet pool not far from it which we enjoyed also. It really is so peaceful and relaxing, but not boring at all. I would say the rooms are better than a value and mod resort. But not as big of a difference as a mod and the BW or GF. The WL,s rooms are bigger than a mod, but other deluxes are bigger. I would call WL and AKL's rooms between a mod and deluxe. We had a few issues with our room, but easily over looked them because we just fell in love with the place! The CM's were great too.

There always is a chance that a code will come out. If you really want to stay at the WL juust book it so you kno you have a ressie. Another plus is the rack rates are lower than other deluxes.

We just returned from WL last week. It was indeed lovely but was it worth $70 bucks more a night than our favorite POR...I'm not quite sure. I was somewhat disappointed that the only way to leave MK after Wishes was to board the boat to WL. The park closed at 9:00 and we finally got on boat trip #4 at 10:15 ish on Sunday night. IMHO I would save a little on the room and go for a moderate.

The convenience, coupled with the ambience, is well worth the additional money. We stayed at ASMovies, and it was nice lodging but not much else. At WL, we had a wonderful staff, beautiful room, and convenience to the MK without the traffic that the monorail resorts have.

There is also a second (quiet) pool between the Lodge and the Villas that has an associated hot tub. No slide at this one, but bubble generators on the bottom make it more like a natural spring.

I'll let you know in a few short days! I can't wait to get there. I just spilled the beans to my kids this morning before they left for school. They were psyched!

I've only stayed at deluxes...I'm sure I'll love the WL!
