We're going in June (myself, my wife, and our 16 month old). Currently staying at the Poly, but debating on switching to Boulder Ridge for the bigger room so we're not stuck sitting in a dark room early when the baby goes to sleep. Web site there's construction. Anyone know what they're working on and how bad it is? Is it worth it? Looking for tips on how not to be locked in a pitch black room at 8 if anyone has suggestions on how to make a regular hotel room work with a baby?

its why we bought into DVC...to have that separate room for the kids and so the adults could feel like they had a vacation as well....I would switch regardless of construction if possible

They're doing significant pool construction yet, and working on the lakefront cabins. 50-50 you overlook pool construction, but that work is done during daytime hours.

Isn't Boulder Ridge the DVC building that is separate from the Main Lodge? You would not be looking at the construction as long as you are in that building.

The majority of the construction is right next to the lake side of VWL/BRV. The rooms facing towards the woods and bus stop would not see any construction. In the hotel the rooms facing north look down on the cabin construction there but the ones facing towards the pool have little or no view of the construction.

I would switch. We took DS on his first trip to WDW when he was 1 and stayed in a standard room at Poly and, yes, we were stuck in a dark room at 8 pm. That was the last time we all stayed in a standard room together - it's been villas ever since (unless DS and I travel without DH). The villa will also have a washer/dryer that comes in very handy with little ones!

We're assuming a 1BR villa here. If it's not a 1BR but just a studio, be aware it's just a hotel room, with a kitchenette and only one queen bed.

We always stayed at the Deluxe's when our kids were little. We would put them down then sit on the balcony with an adult beverage and later order room service. I swear when you tell them the kids are sleeping they come in quiet as a mouse and soon you are enjoying date night with the kids. LOL Sweet sweet memories.
