Can anyone tell me more about it than what they tell on the Disney sites. DH and I are staying there for the first time. We will be there Dec. 8 to the 15th.
Thanks
Tina

Thank you so much that was really helpful. Like I said this is the first time here and I want to get the best of every minute.
Thank you
Tina

I am interested in the WL too. I know it's a cozy, woodsy kind of resort that would be great in the wintertime. Is it still a nice place to visit in the spring? I'm going next April and trying to decide where to stay.

we are also thinking about staying at this resort because friends of ours L O V E  it!!! They claim its one of the best resorts to stay at in WDW when traveling w/ children.... the only thing that I wish this resort had would be the monorail! :( It looks beautiful and if it does fit into our budget for next years trip, this is the one that I think we are going to pick.... but I have to say its one of the top 3!

I'm sure it's beautiful year-round, but we were there this past April, and we loved it! Here are some pictures that I took:

We love WL so much that we bought into the DVC there. It's wonderful in all seasons, but especially in the winter and when decorated for the holiday. Very romantic and cozy and always puts me in the holiday spirit. There's big rocking chairs in front of a huge stone fireplace in the lobby, and several nooks and crannies that are great to relax and read or enjoy a drink (above the front entrance on the ?3-4 floor is another fireplace with chairs and couch and there's a small balcony facing the pool and the lake on ?4th or 5th floor).

The music adds a lot to the atmosphere. Ask for info at the front desk on the hidden Mickey's and hunt for them. The little mouse boats are wonderful to zip around the lakes ... go over to MK and by the monorail resorts (although this is best enjoyed on a warm day).

I've always enjoyed Artist Point, although haven't eaten there in a few years, so don't know if it's as peaceful and quiet as it used to me.

Hope you have a wonderful trip and enjoy it as much as we do!

IMHO it is the most relaxing resort. I don't know exactly what it is, but I am totally calm when I'm there. It is my favorite at Christmas time - I love the fireplace and huge tree. The sound of the water in the lobby is wonderful too and ohhh Artists Point is one of my all time favorite restaurants. Our kids love this resort as well - Poly is the only one that can top it b/c it's on the monorail.

Wow, what a coincidence we just this evening decided to stay at WL for the first time Dec. 8th. to the 11th. and just now logged on to find your post. We're really excited.

My wife's name is Tina and we are DizneyNutz. We love the WL and you can really feel at home there. Especially at Christmas time, you can sit in the lobby in front of the fireplace and sip your hot chocolate and people will not even take a second look, because it is like YOUR living room and you can feel comfortable making yourself at home there.:thumbsup2

WL is a very relaxing resort! We were there this past April and found it to be a wonderful resort. We stayed concierge level and I can recommend that as well.
It was a bit chilly for swimming at times, but we did anyway! I'd guess that sometimes, April can be quite warm.

This is a nice resort. The rooms were just redone and are very nice. They are slightly smaller than those at the Contemporary, GF, YC/BC, Poly but are comparable in size to those of the AKL. The food court area is probably one of the smallest of the those deluxe resorts that have one but we found it very adequate. The transportation we found to be very good. There is a bus that runs directly to Magic Kingdom or the boat so even though you don't have the monorail option, you do have options. We never waited more than 8 minutes or so for a bus -- except to Downtown Disney and back. That said we have run into the same problem with buses to DTD at Poly, GF, YC/BC, WL and AKL. I think it is a DTD thing ... perhaps:confused3

Overall, though, we found this resort to be very nice. We were there in mid-March and it was crowded but never got that feeling at the resort. In April you will definitely be able to swim.

We Love the Lodge!! We stayed on the concierge level in july 2006. We hope to go back again next year. My teenage son and daughter can't wait to go back. We will definitely do the concierge again the food and CM's were awesome!!

We stayed in the WL Dec of '05 and loved it!!!! The furnishings are very comfy, there is a big beautiful fireplace with rocking chairs surrounding it ( oh so relaxing!), during the winter holidays- a huge holiday tree in the middle of the lobby, and a lot of lounge areas where some families would gather to open their holiday gifts. The bus' and the boat were very easy to board, no long lines and while I was eight months pregnant this was a plus! The service was top notch, btw you must dine in the Whispering Canyon Cafe and ask for some ketchup or ice tea :) WL is just a wonderful place to stay, you will not be disappointed!

My family and I stayed there in december and it was wonderful. It's the best resort I've stayed at in WDW.

It's strange but some people don't like WL all that much. I think there's many more people that do like than don't but some people posted they had better stays at Port Orleans and that's a step down in price. I guess what it comes down to is people like different things.

I also remember reading people complaints about the buses and how they take forever there, but at least you can hop a ferry to MK!

Don't let that stop you though, the place rules!

My mom and I looooove the WL!! We are going back in august! WL is my mom's favorite resort.... and she can be tough to please, so its a pretty big deal! The lobby is amazing, the pool is really nice. I love being by the lake and being able to rent the sea-racers and go out into the lake by GF and the Poly... there is a lot to do, see and take in, it's a very fun and relaxing resort! Enjoy!
