My family and I are going to be taking a trip the last week of October (and I am beyond excited!!) :woohoo:

A few years ago we stayed in a one bedroom villa at AKL and absolutely loved it! I would actually love to stay there again but hubby has always wanted to stay at the Wilderness Lodge and wanted to try something different.

After browsing several pictures online I noticed the rooms look a bit outdated, especially for the price. I know there were some recent room refurbishments but I can't find any info concerning the villas. Anyone know if they were included in the updates? :confused3

They have not been renovated, but there are plans for that maybe next year. We did see a sample room being prepared in January and I didn't like the changes very much. I would miss the pine cone carpet.

The villas are not outdated. They are themed to the National Parks of the Northwest United States.

Some photos might actually be pre-last rehab. Best to look for some recent YouTube video tours (like AllEars) for the most up-to-date style. The use of bedspreads does make any room look dated, even the GF;)

where can you see the remodeled rooms -please!:scared:
Sorry, there aren't any photos. I believe the VWL rehab is only in the planning/rumor stages.

We stayed in the villas last August and I didn't feel like they were outdated at all. They were charming in a special rustic Disney way that fit perfectly with the overall theme of the WL. Our one bedroom villa was in excellent condition, very clean and we adored it. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

The WL is our home resort and I cannot tell you enough about how gorgeous the resort is. I have stayed there many times and I personally think the rooms are comfortable and not out-dated at all. They have a rustic feel to them, and I know the villas are a little different from the "real" rooms, but I have seen plenty of pictures of them and I think they look great! I would give it a shot :thumbsup2

Thanks for all of the replies! I'm glad to hear everyone loves it because I believe this is where we'll end up:thumbsup2

We did a split stay last year between AKL and VWL, staying in a one bedroom at each. AKL was incredible. Simply loved it! Large spacious rooms, big kitchen with full sized appliances, well laid out, etc. We move over to WL and wow....totally let down. I didn't like the layout and swear there were more doors per square foot than any place I've ever been in, the kitchen had an apartment sized stove that was in very poor condition, the fridge was dated, the tub was so filthy that the housekeeping super came down herself and took care of it (apparently they're supposed to do a special cleaning of the jetted tubs and it hadn't been done in quite a while??? she was NOT happy about it to say the least.). Just really let down.

It may have simply been the unit we were in so please do not go just by my feedback and I hate to dis the WL as it is my go-to resort but the VWL did not thrill me at all. Not sure of the exact number of our room but we were on the ground floor facing the walkway behind the bus pickup area at VWL and at AKL we were on the top floor savanna view in room 5324 I believe.
