I've never stayed at WL, but we've been to GWL, and we shied away from WL because we thought the theming would be too similar to GWL, and we wanted where we stayed at Disney to feel like something new (to us). But maybe I'm wrong. Those of you who have stayed at both places, what do you think?

I haven't been to WL, but if you are concerned, why not try AKL? It still has the outdoorsy feel, just...Africa!

I have been to both. I think WL's theming is far and above better that GW. You can actually believe you are in one of the great lodges at Yosemite. You can see we have stayed there a lot and every time I walk into the lobby when we arrive is just amazing.

I've been to both resorts and have to say that WL is fantastic. Pictures do not do that place justice and the pictures look good. WL is my favorite resort in WDW.

As for AKL, I like I like it but not as much as WL. For me it's just to far out from everything. Also with the popularity of people wanted to visit just to walk around and catch a glimse of the animals and the popularity of Boma and Jiko restaurants this place is just way to loud and to crowded all the time.

We've stayed at both GWL (in both Sandusky and Traverse City) and WL.

Theming is very similar though Disney's is done better. If you want a completely new environment to you, then skip WL and do another resort. But WL is much nicer than GWL on every level including the rooms.

I agree with Tam1067...the theming is the "same" in one sense, but Disney's is so much better (not that I don't like GWL, because we enjoy it very much, but go there for the indoor water park, not the theming). I certainly wouldn't say it is repetitive. On the other hand, if you want something totally different from GWL, there are other Disney options like the Poly that would give you a completely different theme.

I agree completely. If you feel that the theming would be repetitive, then stay somewhere that looks (and feels ) completely different. Also in that area is the CR with it's GV rooms that have a different feeling than GWL or WL, and the Poly is definitely very tropical and Florida-feeling! The main reason why I visit there but haven't stayed at WL yet is because I can get the same thing, or the real version of a National Park lodge at home. Plus there is also a GWL close by. :)

AKL sounds really cool too. I'd count myself lucky to try either right now! :) We ended up at Yacht Club, which I loved, but I hope to go back to WDW again some day. Nothing like planning years ahead ! Thanks.

Thanks so much for the feedback ! It sounds like the concept is similar. I am sure Disney's WL does it much better, though.
