Going to WL for first time in couple weeks. Plan to call hotel directly to speak with "room assignment desk". Have a courtyard bunk bed room already reserved. For those experts out there... our family (DH, DD5, DD8, me) would like a view of Bay Lake, Geyser, and elec. water parade, BUT the kids go to bed at 8:30pm so don't want noisey location after that time. Have heard to ask for "5th floor inner courtyard view, towards end of South wing". Is that good/quiet at night? Also, just read that there is construction starting 4/15/12...any details on what's happening?

Thanks! :yay:

Our last visit, in January, we were in room 5115, south wing inner courtyard. We didn't have a bunk bed room, we wanted 2 queens, but it was a great room. Quiet at night, but had a great view of bay lake. We could watch the Water Parade from our balcony.
We just took the elevator close to the bridge over Silver Creek in the lobby up. Our room was close to the area that looks out over the lobby area, Just arround the corner a few doors down. Just far enough away not to get the lobby noise.

Normally I prefer the North Wing, which was what I requested, but ended up loving this location.

If there are bunk bed rooms near this area, I think you'd be happy.

So yes, request inner courtyard, south wing, upper floor. It's best to have your request noted right on your reservation.
When you phone and ask for WL- generally you aren't connected to WL, but an off site call center. If everyone phoned room assignor they would spend all their time taking requests on the phone, and not get their job done. So calls are fielded off site.

I've always just had my requests put right on my reservations. Reservations are transferred to resort room assignment around 5 days before arrival date.
I almost always get most if not all my requests.

I haven't heard where in the resort they are starting the refirbs, but hear it will be very nice. Maybe someone on the WL thread will know something. I can't wait to see the new rooms.

To make requests, call 407-WDISNEY. That's Disney's process for handling room requests. You can do this at any time, there's no need to wait.

There's no room assignment desk at Disney resorts - at least, none that you will be able to speak with. All incoming calls to resorts go to a call center. They will answer as if they were at the resort, but they are not. The person you speak with will pull up your reservation record and add your requests.

We were there in Jan 2010, then a couple months ago in Feb 2012. Here are what I thought of our rooms:
Jan 2010, stayed in South wing, 2nd floor (didn't take an elevator, just took the hallway across from the mercantile, and we were in the 2nd to last room, facing the inner courtyard). We had requested "woods view" and were upgraded to pool view. It was gorgeous, and since we were there with freezing temps, not many people were in the pool, although there were a few brave souls who dipped into the heated pool in the icy temps. It was very quiet in this area, and we LOVED it, although we were a LONG walk to Roaring Forks and laundry. (walk all the way through the wing, through the lobby to the other side, down the ramps and into Roaring Forks.)

Feb 2012, stayed in North wing, lower (ground) level. We again had "woods view". I'm not sure if this was an upgrade or not, but it was very woodsy outside our room's patio. Through the foilage, we could see the pool and everyone walking to and from the boat dock. During the EWP, the music in our room was LOUD!!! (last time we didn't even hear it from in our room). This location was ok, and the short walks to Roaring Forks and the bar made it ok, but I preferred the quieter room on the other side. Sure, it was a walk to get stuff, but it felt more "homey" to me, and crowds felt less imposing.

I'm not even sure my experience will help you at all, but I hope it did somewhat.

Also, something I wish I had known before we left... If you bring your own bagels, there's cream cheese on the condiment bar during breakfast. If I had known that, we would have brought bagels to keep in our room and gone to Roaring forks to toast and schmear them before walking down to the docks. (we didn't bring bagels because the thought of bringing our own cream cheese and all the things that could go wrong with that scared me out of the idea. We brought poptarts instead, to DD's delight, and I had granola bars for breakfast each morning we didn't buy a breakfast.)

We stayed in the north wing 5th floor facing the MK we loved the woods view and we could see the monorail and a bit of the castle through the trees. Although we could not hear the music we could see the fireworks every night which the kids loved. Easy access to Roaring Forks, the pool and the boat dock.
