In about 14 days, we leave for our first stay at Wilderness Lodge and at a deluxe resort. We've always stayed moderate prior to this. We are VERY excited! I've looked online and on the WL resort thread, since the pool refurb, does WL have a wading pool any longer? Does it have a zero entry point? Trying to figure out if there is anything there for my anxious 4 year old besides the spray pad. She is afraid of deeper water pools. Thanks!

They have an awesome new kids splash area!! My 5 year old boy loved it! Had a few slides and dump buckets. I think your 4 year old will enjoy it! My son could have spent a couple hours easily playing.

Thanks! I really want to know if they still have a wading pool which is shown in some pictures, but I don't know how old the pictures are. I'm wondering if they got rid of it with the refurb last year.

I believe they did do away with it. I think it was replaced by the new kids area. I don't remember seeing it... If I'm wrong someone can correct me. :)

WL does not have zero entry. The wading pool was replaced for the kids water/spray area. It's a beautiful pool area, enjoy!

Here is what it looks like.

What do you mean by deeper water? Their pools are not deep, usually between 3.5-4 feet. And they have large stairs she could play around. As long as she doesn't totally block access folks don't mind

Yep, and to a 4 year old, that's deep:)

My daughter is 37.5 inches tall so yes that is too deep for her. She won't even let me hold her in water that deep. My son has no fear of anything (which has its own issues). My daughter is extremely cautious and always has been. It goes back to a history of medical issues from the day she was born. Normally I would be less concerned but my husband is not coming on this trip. He's a non-water person so he would look after her so my son the daredevil could go in the pool.

They provide life jackets. Would that work?

Nope. It's her fear. A life jacket isn't going to take away her fear. She's a little kid. Her mind doesn't work like an adults that a life jacket is going to make her safer.

She'll probably love the splash area. There were tons and tons of little girls her age playing there when we were visiting a couple of weeks ago. Maybe you can watch your son in the pool while she plays at the splash pad?

Sorry, just going off my experiences. They did work for DGD to feel safer when she was 4/5. You may want to consider a different resort, if possible. AKL does have a zero entry area and is about the same price point at WL

Since we leave in 12 days and the trip is fully paid for, we'll stick with it and work around it. She never used the pool on our last trip, but my husband was on that trip. Not sure how it will work with my sister on this trip. We shall see.

I hope that yall are having a great trip. Our son is 7 and loved water as a baby/toddler. When he was 4 year old, our home flooded. Late this summer is the 1st time he overcame his fear of water. It will come in time for your DD. I hope you have been able to balance your Daredevil DS in the pool with the water shy DD. we often travel without DH so I understand the stress of that situation.

Have a magical trip.
