Wilderness Lodge or Grand Floridian?

There is really no notable difference in transportation going back to the resort from MK. So you ask about pools. GF main is a mirror image of the pool at Poly which means it should be great but to me it isn't. The pool has no escape from the sun in or out of the pool just because the direction it faces. Depending on the building you are in and being the DVC resort rooms are the closest the pool is a walk. The slide is decent but by far not one of the better ones. The quiet pool will be a closer walk but there is nothing notable. WL main pool has a smaller slide but also decent - great and unintimidating for younger kids. I personally like the WL pool over the GF. The DVC pool which I am not sure you can access is sort of the quiet pool but is salt water. Hands down the theming at WL wins however some may prefer the GF for the Victorian feel. Rooms quality both are fine I prefer WL theming with these notes GF has robes in every room you can use and purchase, GF has a mini lobby in every building with a CM parts of the day. WL has 2 lobbies the main and the DVC. I can sit at either and enjoy for a few hours easy especially in from of the fireplaces. GF has a grand lobby but to me not inviting in any way - Note depending on the month the Lobby may have construction and will be partially closed. I do not know the exact dates may have been announced? I know late august got a construction notice as well as September.

Anyone staying at either resort can access the Boulder Ridge pool. No slide there but it is well-themed and quite nice.

I prefer Wilderness Lodge over Grand Floridian -- the relaxing, nature oasis vibe and having everything in one building. But I agree with the person who said to watch You Tube videos of both resorts to decide.

For MK, it's convenient to walk between GF and MK, though the boat to/from Wilderness Lodge is easy. For Epcot, I think it's a pain from GF with needing to transfer monorails.

No brainer - if you would take advantage of the ability to walk back to VGF (instead of waiting for the monorail/boat, which can be crowded depending on what time you exit) then VGF for convenience sake. If not, save the money and go to WL.

have kids yes. going for halloween night party at magic kingdom which would be monorail at midnight end or Boat transportation if i chose WL. Its a difference in price, that I don;t know if its worth it.... if theres really a dffference in quality of room and pool to make the $200 a night difference in price worth it
Most say the opposite, but I didn't feel like I was at WDW at the WL. It feels like you're a world away from MK even though it's right around the corner. Some people might love that aspect of it. For me, the monorail resorts just feel like the Disney bubble. Maybe if I had stayed at WL first I'd feel different.

Both resorts are 😍 I've stayed at both but I would probably give wilderness lodge the edge mainly because I love having indoor corridors. It made a world of difference when I was traveling in 2019 during the hurricane. When's the parks were closed down, people were told to go back to their resorts but once you were in your room, you were not allowed to leave it. But staying at a resort with rooms attached to the lobby, we were able to come out of our rooms and go downstairs do some shopping, eating and there was entertainment. It was just nice not being stuck in your room.

I would go w/ WL. I love visiting GF but staying there was a bit of a let down for us. Our room was in Sago Cay & seemed so disconnected from the main building. I think I had wanted to stay there so badly that I had hyped it up to be more than what it was for us. In all fairness, we checked into GF after staying at BWI w/ a BW view so we were in the heart of all the activities of the BW.

Would you choose Resort View Room at Grand Floridian OR WIlderness Lodge?
The Wilderness Lodge room is about $200 Less than the Grand Floridian Room. Thoughts? what would you choose?
We've stayed at WL numerous times including club level once, this is our second fav resort just behind the Poly. I really can't speak of the GF as we've never been, but honestly the theming of it isn't our style. As for transportation, the boat service at WL is fantastic in my opinion, sometimes seems even better than the monorail. Just walking around the WL grounds is a great experience. There ya go, my two cents :)

Neither would be my first choice - I don't really like the WL theme, and GF feels WAY too bougie for me - but if I had to pick between them, I'd do WL and save the money.

I really love the GF but WL is very nice if you want the cost savings. GF is closer to MK including a walk, better splash pad area for littles in my opinion, offers room service, has beach areas for kids to play, more lively night entertainment for kids, spa onsite, great fireworks views, and very easy to go around to other resorts on the monorail for extra dining or shopping.

But we stayed at Wilderness Lodge at Christmas last year and loved the cozy atmosphere and the boat ride to MK was great. I feel like there is a little less to do there than GF and you don’t feel “in the middle of it all” like you do at GF.
