We have great deals for both resorts for 7/1-7/5. We are celebrating my in-laws 45th anniversary. Most of our time will be spent at Epcot and MK. We were all set for WL and then got a great deal at CR. Our thinking is easier transporation, accesibility to other monorail resorts, (Plus I've always wanted to stay at Contemporary since the day it opened!) We are traveling with a 16yr old and 12yr old (boy and girl) as well. Thought the day bed would come in handy instead of bunk beds at WL. We have garden wing rooms. Do any of them connect? Any suggestions for room assignments?

Hi Eileen,

Both are very nice resorts. Since you are traveling with your in-laws I would recommend the Contemporary, mainly for the monorail. It is much easier and faster to get around than with the bus service. The garden wings are nice (quieter than the tower IMHO), but can be a bit of a walk to the main tower for the monorail and restaurants. Depending on room location, WL is the same. We had a tower room at CR facing MK in 1999 which was nice but a bit noisy at night (parking lot and the banquet hall below us). On Friday and Saturday night there were parties going on most of the night at the banquet hall. We have two teen boys and they loved the game room at CR and they really liked the pool there. I have a room map with all room numbers listed from when we stayed at the CR. There are 3 floors in the north and south wings. The north wing is closest to the MK. Just request a room away from the laundry room area if that would bother you. The laundry rooms are located in the north and south wings on the 2nd floor. If you are getting two rooms, ask for connecting or adjoining rooms if this is what you wanted. If you like, I get scan this map and email it to you. Have a great time!

My vote is for WL - I just love the atmosphere. Cont may have been special when it was first built but the giant foyer hotels are commonplace now.

The day bed may also be too short for comfort if your teens are tall.

The Cont rooms are larger than WL but all in all, I just love the theming of the WL and the boat to MK.

Theming and atmosphere at the WL puts the CR to shame.

Transportation is more convenient from the CR.

The main question is, which is more important to you?

We have stayed at both and prefer the WL hands down. The decor at the CR is just not our style. We were in a garden wing room at the CR. It was large, but other than that nothing special. CR is older and showing it's age. The rooms at the WL are a little smaller, but that is the only downside to the WL. While transportation at the WL is not as convenient as the CR, the boat to the MK is just as quick as taking the monorail to the MK from the CR. When you take the monorail from the CR to MK you have to get from your wing room to the monorail, then take the monorail all the way around, making 3 stops along the way. You can walk to the MK from the CR, which IMO was the best thing about staying at the CR, but for the in-laws that may not be a choice. You can also take a short boat ride from WL to CR and have access to the monorail.

Good luck with your decision.

I'm 6'1", and the Day bed we had in the CR TC was great for afternoon naps for me (I don't know why a nap only feels like a nap to me if it is done on the couch!)

As for your question, I would take a CR Tower room, or a room @ the WL. I wouldn't dom a GW @ CR. They don't have balconies and it almost feels like a different resort than the tower rooms.
