Looking to go in early November and was curious to hear from people who have stayed at either or both...will do MK a few times and will hit food/wine.

Thats a tossup! I guess the question is which park are you planning on going to the most? If you're going specifically to attend F&W, definitely stay at BCV. If you're only going to do it once or twice, think about VWL.

If you're traveling with young kids, I would say WL. We've been twice with our kids during F&W and while we (the adults) love going, it's very painful because the kids just don't appreciate it and the large crowds make it stressful to navigate when you've got little ones in tow. We've gotten to the point if we go during F&W, we avoid it and the Epcot Resorts, which is a shame because we love the World Showcase.

Once they get older and no longer want to hang with the parents, I can definitely foresee us staying at either BCV/BWV and going to F&W every night! :woohoo:

Wilderness Lodge! Definitely my favorite of all the hotels in Disney. :)
But I'm a little biased because it reminds me of home-

ANYWAY If you're going to Magic Kingdom a few times, the Wilderness Lodge has a nice short boat ride to the Magic Kingdom which is really convenient. Unfortunately I don't know too much about the Beach Club, but it looks nice and I'm sure either would be lovely. But I vote WL :goodvibes

Stormalong Bay is great at BCV... like a water park. However... VWL in nice too... we love the theming there. If you do VWL... be sure to do Whispering Canyon Cafe'

how long is your trip ??
Is a spit 3 nights at WLV 2 nights at BCV an option ?
without kids I would do it the other way 2 at WL 3 at BCV

This late in the game, it will be very difficult to book BCV due to the Food and Wine Festival. However, VWL being such a small resort, it might be fairly tough to book there, as well. Regardless, VWL would be a better option anyway as you state that MK will be a frequent destination. As others have noted, you can take the boat to and from MK while staying at VWL which is a lovely option. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the replies...Split stay isn't an option for us and I think I like Beach Club theming better...I'm going to try today (7 months out) and we shall see...If not I will try Wilderness lodge...thanks for the help...

Good luck! Keep in mind that if the BCV isn't available you can go on a waitlist, two actually. Secure whatever you can get (and VWL would be an excellent choice if it's available) then go on a waitlist for BCV. Regardless, I'm sure you'll enjoy the trip.

I vote for VWL. We love going to F&W and try to go every year, but it is our trip "without kids".

Both resorts are nice but our kids favoured VWL. The set-up with the quiet pool just around the corner from the feature pool (and the pool bar in-between) has worked well for our family. The nearness of Fort Wilderness and the ability to rent bikes and go touring for an afternoon is also fun. Both have a beach and movies at night outside. Depending on the age of the kids, they can be hard to keep track of at Stormalong Bay. We always favoured resorts where pool time isn't stressful on the parents and everyone can have a relaxed afternoon (between morning and evening trips to the Parks).

Either way both resorts are awesome, our family just prefers VWL!

Just curious, were you able to have any luck?
