While visiting the lodge during Christmas, as I stood in the lobby and approached the check in line for Whispering Canyon, I saw this "bright shiney object" in the hallway where the restrooms are located. Knowing that any "themed artifact" is to insure the story line of the Lodge was kept, with the current trend of the Imagineering on property I had to investigate. What themed Wilderness Lodge example could have recently been installed ???......surley it must have been on display to let the guests continue to immerse them selves in the Wilderness Lodge story line that Peter H. Dominick, Jr envisioned when he designed the Lodge......."the theme of being in harmony with nature winds through the lodge, inside and out. Authentic décor and genuine artifacts pay homage to ancient Native American cultures and the pioneering spirit of early American explorers".....
Needing to hear for myself, I spoke with "Humphrey", he explained that this was an example of the "new way" not to be confused with how things were "imagined in the past" and that my memories were great to have but the new is now. He suggested that I "check the APP if I had any further questions". I told him that I came to the Lodge to get away from the everyday use of a cell phone and didn't need one for all the "Magical Moments" that I have from the "Old Way", I wanted to be immersed in the story lines and Imagineering Details that Walt created for all families to enjoy. Attached is a picture of the "Themed Trash Receptical", keep your eyes open for a continuation of the "New Way"
