We'll be staying at the campground next week and I was wondering if access to the gym at the Lodge was free or if you had to pay a fee. Anyone have any experience with this?

The campground itself is great for jogging and I'll probably do that some. But if the pollen's anywhere near as bad there as it is it is here right now I'll probably suck down a half pound of pollen in the process. I'm currently forced into using the treadmills here at home more because of that. Plus it would be nice to have access to some weights/nautilus equipment.

Wilderness Lodge has a gym !?!?! REALLY !?!?!?
I'm so busy try'n to maintain this ol gut of mine eat'n stuff that I cant get at home that I hadn't realized they even have a gym !!!
Don't know bout Florida, but the pollen is sure bad in TN.,,I'm will'n to bet its bad in Florida too.

I'm pretty sure the fitness center at WL is only open to WL guests. Don't think non-guests can pay a fee to access.

I called 1-407-824-3200 and asked this question. I was told that yes campground guests could use the gym, but that there was a $12.78 (includes tax) charge per day to use the gym. Kinda steep IMHO. If you would like to call this number and see is another CM gives you different info this may be a good idea, sometimes this is the case. Oh well, hope you have a magical time!

Pollen is horrible here in Orlando but it is almost over now. Probably a week or two at the most to finish it off in my area.

I was curious so I called the FT Wilderness number and got the same answer- $12.78 a day.

Well that's interesting and good to know! Thanks for doing the research. Not that I will ever use the gym...and it DOES seem kinda steep for a hotel fitness center. But at least the OP has a solid answer now.

I like how the WL rents you a bike and sends you over to Fort wilderness to ride it.
That's ok. I like to ride my bike over to the WL to break into their gym and work out. It's nice, cause instead of showering I just jump in their pool to wash off before riding back to the Fort.

I hope DaveInTN was just joking, I'm guessing he was, but .....
are you guys resentful of the guests at WL? If you have problems with cm's sending folks to ride bikes at FT Wilderness, say something to the folks at WDW. Is this really a big problem? Then say something!
I own DVC points at the Villas at WL and can usually hear people by the quiet cove pool talking about their
campsites at the fort, it's no skin off my nose if they want to come over and swim. :confused3
Is there a problem for you guys when guests from other resorts come for Hoop De Do or eat at Trail's End? If you all begrudge the folks that do, I'll stop doing that.
I know you all are big fans of the campground and rightfully so, but it bothers me when there is joking about trashing the lodge like this.
I doubt you'd find it too funny if folks joked about doing the same to the fort.
Maybe I'm just sensitive since I pay monthly fees toward maintaining the place. But it does bother me reading stuff like that.:lovestruc

Peace out ~ :hippie:

Yep! I was joking.

No, from most of what I've seen and read it's quite the opposite. This isn't directed at you personally! Your post is very diplomatic and I understand your points. But historically, there have been WL guests that complain about "those campground people" coming over to the lodge. Personally, I like the WL (and have stayed at VWL in the past). And I do not pool hop, despite my earlier tongue in cheek post. I understand that there are likely folks that do pool hop, thereby breaking the rules, so I understand some level of frustration in resorts guests if the pool at their hotel is crowded with guests from another resort. But when it devolves into silly and senseless class warfare, as it has in the past, we can tend to get a bit sensitive, resulting in the type of joking I posted above. Anywho...that's where I was coming from!

Thanks for the info guys. That price is a bit steep, but honestly not all that unexpected (kind of comes with the territory with WDW.)

Hopefully we3peas is right and the worst of the pollen is almost over. I don't want it to rain a lot while we're there (and the forecast certainly doesn't show much) but I certainly wouldn't mind a few overnight showers to help knock some of it down. The pollen's just hitting prime time where I live and it's absolutely unbearable.

I see how you can take all the tongue in cheek remarks as a jab, but I take most of these remarks as jabs against the Disney decision makers, not against any of the guests who stay at the WL. The attitude comes from the CG usually not being included in different promotions and/or amenities, or the fact that we don't even have year-round counter-service restaurant on site. I was told by the CM to take the boat to WL to use the Roaring Forks. Yes, the sites are not as costly as some of the deluxe resorts, but many of the campsites can run more costly than promotional rooms at the value and sometimes moderate resorts. Yes it is our choice to use the CG. It's great that a 120,000 motor home can have a site right next to a tent yet yet we all have that understanding that there is no place else like the Fort, but we also would like Disney to change the "step-resort" policies (sorry about the long vent!).

Gym, what's a gym?

Pool, you use the pool. I like warm water and use the hot tub in front of the fitness center and if you use Dawn dish soap to bathe with the foaming will last for weeks :lmao::lmao:

It's just good Hearted fun.

I love FW! Have stayed there many times with RV and at cabins. The "class" insinuations of other resort guests has always bothered me also. RV ing isn't cheap. Also, Cabin prices are right up there and higher than WL room rates. It's the whole campgroung experience that keeps us coming back.:flower3:

Yes, these are jokes, we just like to have fun on the camping board. Relax, I don't think any of my fellow campers will be trashing your lodge. It's all just in good humor over here.
