I'm always hearing how beautiful this place is so I'm thinking of taking DH over to the Wilderness Lodge on our next trip just to walk around, and possibly catch a meal...Any recommendations? :confused3

If you are looking for a fun time, with down-home type food, and a loud atmosphere, try Whispering Canyon Cafe. If you are looking for upscale dining, with a romantic atmosphere, try Artist Point. We've been to both and have enjoyed both very much!! You will need ADR's though...I don't believe it will be an easy task to walk up and get a table for either one.

Thanks for that! It would just be the two of us so I think Artist Point would be the better choice. Would you recommend trying anything specific?

We had one of our best meals at Artist Point in April! Several of us had the Salmon and it was fantastic. My DH and one of our friends had the filet and it really was melt in your mouth filet. I don't know if either of those options appeal to you, but both were fantastic and we kept referring to that meal throughout the trip. The service was great also. Just one of our best experiences. Hope to made an ADR for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day this year, if that tells you how much we thought of it. :)

We haven't been to AP in a few years, but my favorites were the Smokey Portabello Mushroom soup as an appetizer (amazing!!), the filet, and the AP berry cobbler for dessert. My DH has had the buffalo filet and enjoyed it very much. We're not fish people, but people rave about the salmon!

I think I'll definitely be trying the Salmon! :thumbsup2
It will be our first time going for Free Dining so I know I'll have to make an ADR for us! Just waiting patiently for my 90 day mark! :surfweb:

The WCC is a great place to catch a casual table service meal. It is a fund loud family type table service place. We had breakfast and dinner there on our last trip, this past Jan, and enjoyed both meals.

Artist Pointe is on our list for a future trip (next year hopefully). Personally, we cannot in good faith recommend WCC to anyone. The service was awful and the food not much better (DH actually got sick on it).

If I'm reading things right, Artist point doesn't serve lunch? That's kind of a bummer...
I was gonna take DH to a late lunch then head over to MNSSHP.
Oh well. :confused3 We'll fit it in somewhere!

Can grab a food court-esque lunch at Roaring Forks or a late lunch at WCC - table service, "rowdy at times" setting, rather loud, but has some Disney Fun to it. Food is nothing more than mediocre, although DW made me the Apple Cake dessert that was in a Disney cookbook she had and it was outstanding! Artist Point is a good dinner as well, but for me not on equal footing with some of the other signature restaurants. We had a very good meal there - i liked the venison spring rolls and they are famous for their salmon. I guess I am giving them a 7.5 -8 type ranking - very good, just not elite.

Remember, too, that AP is a signature restaurant and will use 2TS credits per person from your dining plan.
