Does anyone know if they still do the family flag raising thing at WL?

Unfortunately, you have to wait for check-in to request this. Flag Family has become VERY popular with the guests..so many don't get the opportunity. If you are staying during a slower season/and atleast 7 days, you may have a shot at it. Good Luck!

Unfortunately, you have to wait for check-in to request this.

After you check-in, you need to go to the Guest Services desk down at the end of the counter and ask the CM what dates are open. We were FF in 2001 and it was a hoot! The view from up top is fantastic!

Actually Geoff, the CM during check-in will check the availability! I think they have changed it due to the popularity!

renniks, Each morning one family at WL gets to go to the roof of the main lodge and with the assitance of one of the "ranger" CMs raise the five flags that fly over WL. There's a nice certificate that you get for the event afterwards. I don't know if it's standard, but we also basically got our own private tour of WL from the CM on the way up and back down.

WEe did the flag raising on our last day of our trip last August.

It was wonderful. Ranger Stan is such a sweetie. The kids had a great time, and they loved it. It was beautiful, and very nice.

We didn't have to get down to the desk until I think 8:30 or something like that. We went up to the 7th floor and the conciege said hello to us, and we went further up... on the stairway.


There were about four or five flags.. the Disney, Wilderness Lodge, The US Flag, and the Florida state flag.


We aslo did the Pledge of Allegiance.


The view was incredible, and it was gorgeous!


And yes, when we checked in we got the last availability date for our entire week. During check in I asked and the CM filled our names in the Flag book right away before someone else took it!

I check in 2/6 for 4 nights, I really should write all these tips down. How will I remember it all?? First time WL, 3 adults. email discount code, rec'd 11/03 and I couldn't pass it up. Woods view- I'm going to request North wing. Flag Family- one person in our group is afraid of heights, will this be ok? Taking the bus to TCC and monorail to epcot. That would be a first Hope the boat ride to MK is not too chilly in Feb! (oh that's right we have 6 inches of NEW SNOW since this morning) Does anyone know if it gets too cold to take the boat? Might want to spoil the group with valet parking, can't do that at Mod resorts.
Hoping to try some new places for meals, and some favorites too.

You are going to love WL...Taking the bus to TTC then Monorail to EPCOT is an option and we have done this many times, my rule is which ever bus comes first, if the EPCOT bus arrives first we take it, if bus to TTC comes first we ride that one. The boat that will take you from WL to MK is a large boat with inside seating it is also heated during cold weather and cooled during warm weather.
