Wilderness Lodge, Courtyard vs Woods views

Hi there everyone,

I've stayed in a woods view room at the WL, 5th floor, over the otter pond and I really enjoyed it. Could see some high fireworks from MK and some of the lake through the trees.

My question is: Are courtyard views really much more spectacular than the woods views? The difference over 6 days is about $235 more for the courtyard view. That isn't going to break us - I just would like to know it's worth spending!

Thanks in advance :)

Me...personally? I LOVE the courtyard view! This is the catch, though...at least for me...

DON'T get the "quiet pool" view that they call "courtyard" also. You want INNER COURTYARD.

DON'T get a room on the 6th or 7th (7th is concierge) floor. They have the solid wall balconies and really take away from the view. I would rather have a lesser view and have a normal (slatted) balcony than the most awesome view and have a solid balcony.

If I could be assured a north wing woodsview room with a view of MK...I would be happy. But if $235 is an ok amount to spend...I would spring for the CY view. If you can...ask for a room in the bear face...or whatever looks straight out over the pol and onto the lake. This is the BEST view IMHO! Last time we had room 5041 and it was awesome!

Hope this helps...and have fun at my FAVORITE resort!

We had a wonderful room last month. 5001. It faced the lake. To our right, we saw the pool and geyser and to the left, we saw the fireworks. It did have a solid balcony but it wasn't bad. We loved the fact that no one was above us. Very quiet area. I'm not sure if it was considered woods or courtyard.

Thanks wildernesslodgelover - just what I wanted - an expert opinion!

I think if we do end up going with the Wilderness Lodge I'll do as you explained - book the courtyard view and ask for the inner courtyard. I also agree with you about the balcony thing. I had thought about booking concierge, I would love to try it, but the enclosed balconies on the 7th floor really bother me. It's a shame but I don't think the kids would be able to see out at all, from what I understand the wall is pretty high?

Thanks for the room recommendation too!

I liked the woods view because we got MK view and could see ALL of wishes. Have had courtyard view and it was lovely, but I'd go with woods and save the money

Oops katallo I missed your post while writing my previous one.

Could you tell me about how high the wall is on the enclosed balcony? I didn't realize there were any on the 5th floor but your view does sound wonderful. I appreciate you giving me a room number also, were you on the end of the wing?

Have a good evening :)

MinnieM3 - those must be the best woods views on the North side. We were on the 5th floor, to the right side a bit of the otter pond, and could see the higher fireworks. I really enjoyed that room. What floor were you on? Do you remember the room number?

Just wondering, since I've only had Woods views, does anyone have photos from their balcony of Courtyard views?

Yes, North Side. Had to be pretty insistant (but nice!) at check in to get it. We were room #7052. Had that walled in balcony, but hey, I can stand for 12 minutes for Wishes anytime! I also feel safer with a little one when there's a walled balcony, for some reason!

If anyone wants pics from my balcony in room 5041, please PM me and give me your email addy and I will send them to ya!

I just cannot get over the "solid balcony" thing to book concierge, either (not to mention the price, LOL!) I like to be able to see a view from the room, when inside the room. You have to be standing AT the balcony to see over it. DH and I LOVE to "balcony sit" with a glass of wine...you cannot just sit on the balcony if it is solid unless you want to stare at a wall.

I also was not aware that any rooms on 5th floor were solid balconied.

You would have to hold little ones(not for the fireworks). I suppose they built the solid balconies for effect. Our family didn't mind them because our view so so great. I forgot that we also watched the Electric Light Parade each night. 5001 was at the end of the hall and there were only 4 rooms in this area so we missed the daily traffic in the main halls. We were at the WL for Easter (when MK was open until midnight) so everyone truly appreciated the quiet atmosphere.

We are going in June and have a woods view, at check in I was going to try to appeal to the CM and ask if we could have a view of wishes if at all possible. Do you mind me asking what room/location you were in? Sounds like just what I want. With having to put kids to bed early we always miss wishes.

wildernesslodgelover - I sent you a PM. Would love to see the pictures of your view - thank you!

So those of you who have had the enclosed balcony - did it make the room darker? I was wondering if you wouldn't get as much light from outside in. I know there are people who think the lodge seems dark anyway. That didn't bother me, I liked the rustic decor.

I can see how the enclosed balcony might be good for small children. We don't allow ours to be out on the balcony without us as I worry a little about that too.

We are staying at the WL April 29-May 4. We have Woods View booked. I was also wondering what rooms were good for viewing Wishes. My dd is 2 1/2 and will only watch fireworks from a distance so I was hoping to get a CM to give me a room with fireworks view. Any suggestons would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I am sure this question has been asked before but I will ask again. Does housekeeping come in your room every day or every couple days?

Housekeeping comes every day. If you are staying at the Villas (DVC section) housekeeping comes every few days.

If you want to see Wishes, ask for a woods view on the north side of the building. Let them know you would like to see Wishes. They are usually very accomodating when they can be!

We were in Room 7052, but I would imagine that 6052 and 5052, etc. would be god too. Although, maybe it was so good because we were high up!
