I was reading the 2006 Unofficial Guide last night, and I noticed that it has this listed as one "weaknesses" of WL as: No direct bus to many destinations. Can someone tell me what that means? :confused3 Can you get a bus from WL to each of the individual parks or do you have to go to TTC first? Is there a bus directly to DTD?

I'm worried! :rolleyes2 What does that mean??

Hi! Yes, WL has buses to all the parks and DTD, also waterparks. No need to go to transportation center!! I just left there Oct.7, and am returning to the lodge 12/5!! Enjoy, it is beautiful!!!!

What it means is that you most likely go to Ft Wilderness also before going anywhere else. WL has buses like all the rest. They share with Ft Wilderness. Most deluxes do share with other resorts but WL seems to be the biggest pain because Ft Wilderness is out of the way and the opposite direction of where you want to go.

The villas are our home resort. As others have stated there are buses for all parks and DTD. The exception to the rule is MK. The have a large boat from WL to MK. On our last few trips the large boat picks up at WL last and then proceeds on to MK. There are also the small boats that provide transportaion to the Contemporary and Ft. Wilderness. Enjoy your stay we always do.

Thanks for your replies.

Is there not a bus, as well as a boat, that runs between WL and MK? You have to take the boat?

every post i see on this board claims that there is a bus to the MK from the WL (in addition to the boat).
However, when we were there in July and then again in August, there was NO bus........

I think there might be buses in bad weather to MK. I know we never had a choice of a bus to the MK. We could have taken a bus to TTC and then took the ferry or monorail like everyone else.

The buses, added sometime in late July, are (for now) a permanent addition to WL, rain or shine.

The bus was there during our trip in mid-July. Never took it, though. I heard it was very fast -- 5 mins. -- BUT we LOVE the boat!

We just got back this week, and there IS a direct bus to/from WL to MK! (either that or we rode with some stranger with purple pants.....)

Depends on the time of year. I was there in July ans the busses were all direct from hotel to park. However, at slower times of the year(if there is such a thing at DW) WL may share runs with GF or Fort. Wild. Call and ask.

When we were at the WL last Dec. there were buses to the TTC from the WL and FW. I understand these buses don't exist now. From what I have read on these boards there is now a bus along with the boat from WL to MK. We will be at the WL in less than 6 weeks for our 20th stay at our favorite WDW resort. We have also stayed at the GF, Poly, BWI, POR and AKL and have found the transportation at the WL to be just fine.

Just there Oct. 1-7 and there was buses to MK, we did not ride these as we used the boat!! But, we did use the bus to Epcot, MGM, and DTD, and did not ever go to FW. We did go to GF!!

We were just at WL at the end of Sept. and found the bus service to be excellent. I thought we would be taking the boat alot more to MK- but believe me one 20 minute trip in a hot boat made me switch to a 5 minute ride in an AC bus really fast! We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus. The Unofficial Guide rules- but on this one they are off!

WL has Direct transportation to all four theme parks, Downtown Disney, and both water parks. However, they may not all be non-stop. Most buses will make one stop on the way to whatever its destination will be. WL should be the first stop on the return trip.

Actually, on the contrary. WL will share with FW for Disney-MGM Studios and Epcot. For the Studios, the bus stops at the Settlement, which is up near WL. For Epcot, the bus stops at the Outpost, which *IS* on the way to Epcot.

I can have someone check this either today or tomorrow. I think our point, as Chip 'n Dale Express noted, is that the WL shares buses with FW for certain destinations. If there is a direct, non-stop bus from WL to MK, it'd be an improvement. I stayed at WL a few months ago, and the family didn't love the boat, especially in bad weather.

Thanks, Len.
I can deal with sharing a bus. I was just concerned that all buses went to the TTC first, rather than directly to the parks.

Thanks for the clarification, everyone. :flower:

There was at one time very recently a direct, non-stop bus from WL to MK. I had heard that it was put on temporary hold due to construction at the WL load zones (to minimize congestion), but I would imagine it should be back. BUT, I no longer wear purple pants, so I do not know. *shrug*
