Has anyone stayed in wilderness lodge in september time? How are the crowds, temperature, attractions??

we did! and i'd do it again in a second. we started labor day weekend which was really hot and really crowded, but by tuesday, the crowds were completely gone. we felt like we owned the place. the hours were shorter, there were fewer parades and such than the weekend before and almost immediately, we started seeing signs of renovations and refurbishing at many of the hotels and attractions, but it didn't bother us at all. the wilderness lodge was beautiful and so peaceful. the parks were empty and that is the best feeling in the world not to have to wait on lines. the weather was still hot, but made the empty pools and waterparks enjoyable, the restaurants were empty too! i think later in september the crowds pick up, but all in all it is still a slow time of the year and it is still hot, but getting cooler. good luck!

....but I've been to WDW in September ('00).

It was *very* hot & humid, but, the crowd level was very low. We didn't have to wait long for anything.

It did rain every day - in the late afternoon/early evening. And, it's hurricane season. (There was a hurricane the day we arrived in '00.)

But.....it was a great time to go so...... we are going this September! I was able to get a pretty good AP rate and I can use my AP again before it expires so it's a pretty good deal!

Oh, and we alway stay at the Poly. :)

Have fun!

The wilderness lodge is beauitful! and a boat ride away from the magic kingdom. September is a "summer" month with great prices and no crowds!:D

I was there the end of Sept '99. Great weather, even though it rained all day for one of the 4 days I was there. It was really a sprinkle and the AK was empty! I just put my rain jacket on and started touring. I practically had the place to myself. Every few hours during potty breaks, I used the hand driers to dry my jacket and off I went.

The only thing that I thought was bad were the lovebugs. Millions of them! LOL (a life guard said that she had never seen them that bad before) They are attracted to white, so just don't wear it and stay away from the pool chairs and you'll be fine. The left me alone in the pool, I just could not sit on the lounge chairs. I'm not a person to run screaming from bugs, but after a dozen or so were crawling on me while I was trying to get some sun, I probably looked like a mad woman shooing them away. I finally gave up and went and sat on the ledge of the pool and found that they left me alone then. (that's when I struck up a conversation with the life guard that was shooing them away from her, too. LOL)

Hi there

We just recently purchased DVC and our home resort is VWL. The resort is absolutely beautiful and would recommend it in a second.

We have had 2 vacations in WDW in September and think personally that it is the best month to go. The crowds are down and the weather is usually great (apart from the Hurricane George year but that never phased us at all). Usually in September we were lucky if 10-15 mins was the longest waiting time for any of the big rides like Splash and Big Thunder Mountain and waited in the standby lines and took fast passes as well.

We used the eride night last July when we were there because the lines were so bad, but would never consider it in September. Even Labour Day didn't make that much of a difference the crowds were still so light.

Have a great time. We are going in July again this year and Septemer in 2003 as we take DD out of school every other year for our trip.

We go every year in September - usually the last week. It's great. Not crowded at all. We've stayed at Wilderness Lodge and it's beautiful. It is very hot & humid, although I'm sure not as bad as August. And usually we do get rain on a few days, but it usually doesn't last long at all (and the parks are really empty while it's raining!)

Have fun!

Just went last September....so crowds were especially low since it was a week after 9/11. It was quite hot, and there were a few thunderstorms, but nothing that stopped us from doing and seeing everything. Walked onto all attractions. I would say if you handle humidity well, September is a great time to go!

We stayed there the week of Sept. 22. The crowds were very light, which was great since my mom was in a wheelchair...had more room to maneuver. The CMs at WL were very helpful...even helping us get the wheelchair in/out of the trunk of the car every day. The weekend we left, the crowds were heavier, like we would normally see.

It was hotter than usual for us since we generally visit in October, and it rained more than in October, but we still had plenty of opps to go swimming.

The hotel is gorgeous. Take the time to explore it a bit. There are lots of sitting areas tucked away on all of the floors. And when you check in, ask to be the flag family. You get to go to the roof and raise a variety of flags. The view is incredible.
