We are arriving earlier then the rest of our party and have two small children DD(4) and DS(6). We are booked into two cabins and was looking for things to do in the resort for the early morning hours. I am renting a golf cart and planning on doing pony rides and maybe a watermouse, but I read somewhere that they release lady bugs at the WL like at the GF. I was wondering if anyone had any idea about this. Also can we be a flag family the first day at that resort? We are actually staying at the CBR prior to moving to the WL with all the other family when they arrive on Tues so being there early in the morning is no problem. Thanks

Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness are two different resorts. I know there is a trail connecting them so you could go over by trail or bus to see the ladybugs if they have them. Also since you are not actually staying at the lodge I'm not sure if you could be selected to be a Flag family. I'm not sure how that works but I thought it was only for guests of the resort. I believe there are some playgrounds at FW that the kids might enjoy as well as a petting zoo and you could always try cane fishing. I think you can get the stuff from the same place you get the golf cart.

Thank you. I thought they were connected and the lodge was part of the Fort Wilderness area. I looked on the map and now see my mistake.
So do you know if the Fort Wilderness campground has the lady bug release show. Also since we are staying at the cabins in FW that does mean we can not use the WL pool correct? These are completely seperate resorts. I am sorry I am so confused, I just want to make sure I a straight on it because the family comes to me with questions since I am the one addicted to disney

I don't have any info about the lady bug release, hopefully someone else can help you with that.

You are correct that you will not be able to use the WL pool. You can use any of the pools located at FW, although none of them are themed if I remember correctly.

Also be sure to tell you family that they have to check in at FW, don't want them going to WL by mistake. The check in area at FW is right at the entrance from the main road. If you do not have a car they will drive you to your cabin with your luggage. They had vans to do this when I went so I don't think you have to ride the bus with all your luggage. In the check-in parking lot area is also where you will go to do horseback riding unless they have changed that around too.
