Wilderness Cabins for family of 5?

The cabins are away from the Trail's End Restaurant, but it's an easy bus ride to there or to the Meadows and campfire. I don't think the transportation is that difficult when you use the Resort map and learn which buses are headed where.

Which loop would have the best location? I mean, which is centrally located? We're considering a cabin because we have 2 developmentally disabled little ones, and they need a relaxing environment. While we had great luck at AKL and WL, we would like to try someplace new this trip.

We stayed with 6---us, grandparents, and our 2 girls.

it was quite comfortable.

We stayed in the room and the grands stayed on the murphy bed. So cerrtainly if 4 adults can do it--2 adults and 3 kids can ;).

One car can park--strictly enforced.

We LOVE Fort Wilderness. Though we have learned it is best not to hotel hope with our pre-schoolers. WE did that one trip and she wanted to relocate to the Poly. Poor kid. Of course we stayed in a tent at the time and she's all about the pools and the Poly--they have the volcano.

She didn't complain about the cabin one bit!

Great info, guys! Thanks! :thumbsup2
Couple of more questions, though! About how much is it to rent the golf carts? Do the cabins provide the same Disney "magic" I keep hearing about? I've never been to Disney, but everyone seems to think that the main reason to stay on site is for the "magic". :wizard:
Also, can you get discounts on the cabins the same way you can get discounts on rooms at the resorts?
Thank you all so much!

We just got back from our first cabin stay~see my thread about the pool.

Other than the pool, however, we loved it! We didn't have any trouble with the transportation-the map they give you is very clear and easy to follow. The Disney magic is definitely there. Everyone says "howdy" and it has a very relaxed, family feel.

I hope you have a great time.

The cabins are great. One of the best things we like is the ease of meals. If you want to eat out you can, if you want to cook you can, simple or elaborate. We will be there in 38 daysand this time over my birthday. So we have a big dinner planned at O'hana and a big steak and salmon grill planned too!

We have stayed in several loops and liked them all. We walk everywhere and just try to get a cabin near the front of the loop. My favorites have been the 2800 loop because you can walk back from the Outpost bus stop and the 2300 loop because it is a close walk to the Meadows.

they used to have a beach that was very nice. We were there over the 4th (back in ''86) and found the beach much less crowded than the pools. (River Country was also there then too)

We had to wait for a tram from our loop to the bus, then to ticket and transportation to go anywhere. I'm not sure of this but I think when it was really busy the busses brought you right into the MK. I would get the cart if I went again.

Also we had 6 adults and a 1 year old in a crib and it was great.
